我唔慣大公衆浴場,I am not used to public bath with the others.

Overall Very Good. I like their environment. As I am a Buddhist, I like the chanting section in the morning. During my stay; I find all the other guests are foreigner; no other Hong Kong people, Taiwanese, Korean or Japanese.

be mindful of the short check in time- we arrived too late (18:00) so we didn't get to enjoy the special dinner and almost weren't able to check in. breakfast was a little disappointing note that there is a curfew for the bath house and entry to the facility after 21:00 pm.

the traditional inn was very peaceful, with a nice bathing house on the first floor. room was very spacious, in a Japanese style futons that were comfortable morning ceremony and breakfast were nice experiences.

Obviously really expensive, but nice for a one off treat.

Property is immaculate, the staff are really nice, the pool and rooms are great and the food is amazing. Relatively easy to find (using the Koyasan leaflet at the bus station rather than Google maps).

The shared bathing experience wasn’t great unfortunately, but we made do as we were only there overnight. Longer stays would be problematic.

The dinner and breakfast were absolutely sensational.

A lovely buddhist ryokan style lodge. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was large and the futon beds were very comfy. Amazing veggie 7-course dinner was laid out for us in the evening as well as breakfast. The monk ceremony in the morning was also great to experience.

A little bit pricey. Was hoping to Walk in the garden, but not allowed.

We were staying in the family room with a private bath. Great view over the garden, and great room size with comfortable beds. Good AC and wifi connection aswell. The monks were great at communicating with us and attentive. Food was different, but great to try. Morning ceremony was a nice experience to have.

The overall experience was nice, but it kind of felt like you were part of a hotel routine. The morning prayers and meals were nice during the day, but there was no personal touch from the staff. Check in and out was quick, felt like you were checking in and out of a hotel. This was done professionally but kind of made the Koyasan temple experience feel less authentic. Nonetheless a great experience!

The location is excellent, very central in Koyasan. The temple is beautiful, with a nice garden. The rooms were clean and the shared facilities as well.

Just be prepared for the shared bathrooms and the specific toilet slippers. It's part of the experience :)

This is the best value for memories that we have experienced so far in Japan. From the moment you enter: the guidelines are clear but kind, the staff are welcoming, and the peacefulness surrounds you. If you're physically able, we recommend booking one of the traditional tatami mat rooms for a fuller experience. The food leaves you feeling full but not heavy as it's vegetarian. The whole space is very clean. Certainly get to the main hall early in the morning for a calm beginning to observing the monks' morning sutras. They will hold luggage pre and post check in/out, so explore the town of Koya San. The nearby temples and especially the cemetery warrant about 1 hour each to fully experience them. The Yukata traditional loungewear they provide may (and is encouraged to) be worn everywhere except morning prayers. The onsen within the building is open after dinner until ~9pm. Check it out. Make sure to wash yourself within the onsen room before entering. Lastly, read the information they provide to you the day before your check in so that you are prepared and respectful.

Food was unexciting and bland. The prayer ceremony could be much better if there was some explanation as to what is going on. The shared bathing/shower room is only open for 3 hours in the evening, and there is very little privacy when using it.

Authentic monastery stay. The rooms are basic, but clean, comfortable and warm. Staff are friendly and helpful. The communal meals are an authentic and enjoyable experience.

Nothing. A few tips: bring warm clothes and warm socks! Travel light ie. don’t bring your large suitcases. Use lockers or luggage forwarding service instead .

Loved the room overlooking the garden. The vegan dinner and breakfast was delicious. The monks were very helpful. Yakatas were great to wear for dinner.

A good experience in a smaller temple

We were in the least expensive room so only had a view of the parking lot, but that was expected. One of the much more expensive rooms would have been a better experience. The food was plentiful but not very filling for those of us used to western diets. Again, that was expected. We were aware that the main gate closed at 9pm but did not know until we arrived that the gate was actually locked at 5 and you would have to go through a small door in the fence if you left or arrived between 5 and 9. Access to the garden would have been nice.

This temple stay is right off the Main Street in Koyasan so it was easy to get there using the bus and we were easily able to walk everywhere. Though the bathroom facilities were shared, they were very modern and clean. We had two living spaces, one with a low table and cushions for sitting on the floor, another tatami room with futons for sleeping. The door locked. The half hour prayer service in the morning was interesting and lovely but I would have liked a better explanation beyond a printed sheet for English speakers which just repeated what is on the website. Staff members were very kind.

I never imagined I would have the opportunity to spend a night as a guest in a temple. The atmosphere is serene, with everyone being incredibly welcoming and respectful, including the other guests. Surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoyed the meals, especially considering I'm not typically fond of vegetables. Participating in the morning prayer was also a memorable and enriching experience.
