Everything seemed a bit old and outdated.

Everything was right. According to the pictures, our expectations were probably higher. Nothing to complain really, but it was one of my least favourite hotels during the 3 weeks in Japan.

It's dated in all respects. The service. The room. Probably can get better value for money at another hotel

Location decent although the so called castle view is meh. It's in the heart of some good restaurant and shopping.

The breakfast was not good. I had a choice between a Western or Japanese set dish. I stayed for two night, tried breakfast for the first day and did not bother to try it on the second. Wifi was quite bad. So in terms of value for money, I would not stay in it again

The hotel is clean and the staff is very professional and friendly. Location is very good (in front of Kumamoto castle) It had a vintage vibe to it so it was nice.

An old style building where the bathroom tap is still having the single knob for hot water and another knob for cold water.

Had a good view of Kumamoto castle and near to shopping streets. Very courtesy staff and tried very hard to assist. Good breakfast.

Property is tired and the hotel staff were not as helpful and warm. Had to load the luggage to my car with the baggage staff looking without assisting and front desk personnel were not warm; not what you would expect in Japan.

Very dated decor and tired facilities in room. Felt like a very large hotel but surprisingly no onsen or pool No buffet breakfast. Had to pick Japanese or Western Staff were pleasant but not actively helpful, whereas in other places staff knew we had come for specific sights and provided up to date info and suggestions without us asking.

The first room we were given on the 9th floor smelt of smoke. The staff were very helpful but unfortunately the only available replacement room of a similar size was on the 4th floor where we had a view of only the parapet of the hotel.

Location - walking distance to the castle and shopping streets.

This was my final trip with my wife in Japan after living here for seven years. I'm a fan of Japanese history, so I was excited to have a view of Kumamoto Castle and reserved a deluxe suite with castle view. However, when I arrived, my room was changed without explanation. I had a view of the adjacent building. I wouldn't have booked this hotel if I knew I wasn't going to get the room I reserved.

A clean hotel with friendly staff and good restaurants. Also conveniently located for Kumamoto Castle and the tram line. Offers a view of the castle if you are lucky enough to actually get the room you booked.

Corridors looked very tired and in need of renovation. The carpet in one area of the bedroom was frayed and in need of repair. One narrow window only in the room - which was the only one available to see castle. Poor layout of bathroom meant I nearly fell over the toilet each time I entered. Limited food options for breakfast, but what was supplied was ample. Only tea bags (no coffee) supplied in room.

Large bedroom with separate dressing area. nice to have a window that can be opened. Great location near to castle. Big and comfortable bed. Covid precautions are obvious. Hotel is obviously trying to reduce its energy footprint.
