Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I stayed for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience! perfect location right by the geo-thermal park and quick walk to two most prominent onsen facilities. Modern spacious rooms and a lovely onsen on-site. But most importantly there is Miki who runs the place – an amazing host who has made my stay very special. Thank you Miki, I look forward to coming abck to your place!

FinlandThe only downside to our stay was that the room’s curtains did little to block out the morning light, so consider bringing a sleep mask!
This hotel charmed us with its ambiance from the moment we stepped inside. The proximity to the famous Yubatake and local onsens made it an ideal retreat. The hotel’s private onsen, while modest in size, has a lovely, intimate vibe. I got to enjoy it by myself which was a great experience. The level of service was amazing, with staff showcasing exceptional friendliness. The yukatas in our room were a thoughtful gesture that deeply enriched our cultural experience, making our trip feel even more special. I would stay here again!

GermanyWe had a perfect stay at the Bekkan Wata No Yu hotel. The employees (especially Mika) are very friendly and helped us regarding all our questions. We took also once breakfast and dinner ´, which was very good. The hotel is close to the small shop are and the relevant Onsens sites are in walk distance. Also the ski area is not far away.

The property is modern with a Japanese touch, very comfortable and the view from the room is very nice. The room is spacious and there is an indoor onsen to relax after going out the whole day. Breakfast is also good. The location is convenient, an interesting walk to the Yubatake with a number of snack places and restaurants, an interesting walk to the centre of Kusatsu. A famous outdoor onsen place is located 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel, you can walk through the garden, definitely worth visiting. The biggest attraction of the hotel is the service, Miki san, exceptional service, very hospitable and assist us immensely during our stay. We had a flat tire and she helped us a lot to get it sorted which is very important as she is fluent in English and can help us to communicate with the repair shop.

SingaporeLocation of the hotel is good, at the end of the Sainogawara street and right beside the entrance of Sainogawara park. It is a small hotel with only 10 guestrooms so it is very quiet and peaceful, and the onsen is usually empty. I paid 4,400yen for the dinner and will TOTALLY recommend it - such an amazing spread and experience. Miki is also super friendly and cheerful, and definitely made my stay here very very enjoyable!

ChinaOne of the best stay in my life! Room is big, clean and quiet, typical Japanese style. Breakfast was awesome, and the onsen was exceptional. Just locate at the entrance of the Sainokawara Park, and just a few minutes walk from the Yubatake and the Otaki no yu Onsen. Mrs Miki is soooo nice! Definitely will stay here again if come back to Kusastu! Miki さん, ありがとうございました!

Excellent location, close to the center and all major onsen. The view from our room was fantastic, and the room itself was spacious and comfortable. I strongly recommend reaching out to the property and booking a dinner reservation. Dinner was absolutely incredible, some of the best Japanese food we've had. The lady who welcomed us was very polite and friendly, and she could speak very good English. The baths were also great with two different hot water sources and a sauna.

United StatesThe beds were a bit hard. But nothing a soak in the hotel Onsen couldn't fix! ;)
The service was exceptional. Mika was a pleasure to talk to and went above and beyond to make our stay one of the best of our tour across Japan. It's a great location that's right between the downtown core and a lovely park. Room was good sized as well! And since there's only 10 rooms, the hotel Onsen might as well be a private onsen with two different water sources. The free coffee and tea in the lobby is a great touch too.

AustraliaThe room was spacious with nice natural lighting and a very strong heater. The location was great with Sainokawara park practically next door and a few popular restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the accomodation. Miki-san was a lovely host and made me feel at home. The traditional Japanese style breakfast was also delicious.

South AfricaSituated next to Saikonawara Park and a short walk to Yubatake, the hotel is perfectly situated. It’s much smaller and intimate than other hotels in the area, but it only adds to the charm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel has its own hot springs to bathe in at your leisure. Traditional yukata are provided for you and you are encouraged to wear them. Miki (the host) is such a lovely woman. She is gracious and welcoming, and very excited to have you there. While I did not opt in to have the breakfast or dinner at the hotel, there are many options in the small town that you can find by wandering through the streets.
