Good location. On a quiet spot at the end of the main street of the town and right at the entrance of the country park. We took about 15 minutes to walk from the train station. But the ryokan also provided pick up and drop off service. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless clean. Excellent indoor and open air bath with spring water from 2 famous origins. Must try them all. The staff who served us were very good and helpful. We loved its relaxation room which provided freshly boil coffee and foot hot spring bath.

I think extending breakfast time ? also the onsen can’t be use from 9:30 am to 1 pm ,there are no lifts so you have to carry your suitcases -also would be nice that the hotel ask guests to respect other guests by not being noise at night time

Unfortunately, the guests in the next room were quite noisy, even past 10pm. The hotel has signs reminding guests to be considerate of the noise they make but not everyone heeds them.

My room was large and comfortable. I slept extremely well on the futon and had delicious breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The hotel is located near the Sainogawara park towards one end of the town so it is very convenient to visit the park and public onsen there. The hotel’s own onsen was great too with an indoor and outdoor pool

The staffs were friendly and helpful providing the local information. I was also granted an early checking under a special circumstance of mine. In overall, the facilities were extremely clean and comfortable. The public hot springs are a plus and highly recommended.

The private Onsen weren't as pretty as some other Ryokan we stayed at, but they were well maintained and still pleasant. The hotel is on a bit of an incline, those with mobility issues might want to ask for a shuttle, it was fine for us however.

Rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff were, friendly, with a few who spoke good English. The location was good, a short walk to the Yubatake. There were a number of private Onsen available for reservation as well.

It was pure magic! I swear I could've stayed in that room forever—it was that cozy, clean, and bright. And those facilities? A+! Especially the baths, they were just <3. Plus, the location rocks, just a quick walk to Yubatake. Seriously, you won't regret it!

The coffee supply: provide cup is very little. and no coffee machine. If we want to take it away to our room, coffee is easily cold.

Everything is good, very close 西の河原公園, the staff is nice, good Onsen. Just walk around 4-5min to 草津溫泉 湯畑 Free transport to Kusatsu Onsen bus station.

Beautiful room with a gorgeous view. Dinner and breakfast were absolutely exceptional and some of my favorite meals of the trip. Location was very close to the park and an easy walk through/into town. The hotel onsen was also very nice and very clean. I would absolutely stay here again in the future!

Value for money! Staffs are very much accommodating specially Jericho. Hotel is more than 100 years old but it doesn’t feel like one. So happy we booked this for our very first onsen/ryokan experience.

Excellent location near center of town and areas west of Kusatsu. Delicious breakfast that varies each day of the journey. Enjoyed time with my family staying there very much! Nice onsen and facilities on the grounds.

We couldn't adjust the heating in the room but was able to open a window. We loved the onsen but could see others may not and were not given a choice to have a private shower. No western food at all. Maybe some nuts and fruit as an alternative for some.

The hotel was very traditional. Lovely decor and room was very comfortable. There were no showers in the rooms however the onsen facilities were amazing if you didn't mind being naked with strangers.

If hills bother you definitely take the shuttle. Other than that no complaints, and that is super minor to me.

Beautiful old exterior with modern updated interior. I was always warm, comfortable and greeted by the staff. Delicious meals and excellent bath.
