Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI loved this place but people need to be mindful that's in an old, traditional house; doorways can be low, doors are sliding, and it's in a residential neighborhood (that is quite charming and has a good location).
Staying here was a dream and fulfilled our curiosity of what it's like to stay in a Japanese style town house. Yoko was a gracious host who knows how to make guests feel welcome. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom great, and the garden a gem. I was very happy staying here and would come again. I wish places like this existed in every city.

United StatesThis was an amazing stay -- there was NOTHING we didn't like!
Yoko was a fantastic host. She contacted us within hours of our booking to find out more about what we needed, then checked in again as our arrival got closer. I have food allergies and my wife is a vegetarian and she was beyond accommodating to us to meet our needs. Being at her home was authentic and peaceful, the room was comfortable and incredibly clean, and breakfast was a masterpiece!

The ryokan was lovely and impeccably clean. The proprietor Yoko clearly has high standards. We (a family of four) stayed in a large tatami room with 4 futons that were insanely comfortable. There were elegant Leaf Botanics toiletries provided. The traditional Japanese breakfasts were beautiful as well as delicious. One of the best lodging experiences I have had.

Yoko-san was an outstanding host and an absolute treasure trove of information about the area. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. Her English is also outstanding, so if you're worried about your japanese, you'll be understood here! The property itself is stunning and shows how much care is put into it. The location is amazing as well, it's barely a 5 minute walk to the imperial palace. Just a few doors down is one of the highest rated places to eat in the area.

United KingdomWe genuinely love love loved everything! My only note is that the property details mention a hot tub in the room, I believe they mean bathtub which could be confusing for someone looking for more of a spa type tub!
Exceeded our expectations in every way. Yoko was a fabulous host, and the location is perfectly central for anything you want to do in Kyoto and beyond. We stayed in the family suite which had 4 super comfortable and cozy futon beds and a private bathroom which was great. Breakfast was just perfect and such a nice way to start the day, our group mostly opted for the traditional Japanese breakfast (which varied from day to day but was always delicious) but there was also the option for a more western style continental breakfast with pastries and croissants which our 7 year old was thrilled with. Yoko recommended a couple of great local restaurants (one less than 5 mins walk away) and kindly organized reservations for us. We also shipped our luggage to and from Tokyo which made our lives easier and Yoko kindly sorted out for us and just added to our bill.

It is very close to a subway station which makes getting around a breeze. Our host was super knowledgeable about the area and went above and beyond by helping us find which subway train to take to get to our Shinkansen in time or ordering a taxi to pick us up from the inn for a day of sightseeing.

We loved this location- it was very close to public transport and the area was away from the busyness of the main tourist areas. Our host Yoko was amazing and she was very helpful giving us an overview of sights and where things are located. Our breakfast was beautifully and lovingly prepared- I am vegetarian and great care was taken to ensure that I had a delicious meal. Thank you.

United StatesAbsolutely beautiful property with traditional design. I loved my cozy little room overlooking the inner garden. Great location, walkable but also close to public transport. Yoko was the most delightful host, and the breakfast offered was incredible. A stay that I will remember for the rest of my life. I strongly recommend this property—I wish I would have stayed longer. I would also mention- if you are interested in the aesthetic and philosophy of traditional Japanese design, then this is the place for you.

AustraliaI loved everything about Mitsuki and by the end of my stay I didn’t want to leave. The room was excellent, a really calming space and a great retreat at the end of the day. The bed was also super comfortable, I had the best sleep every night, and the breakfasts were some of the best food I had in my three weeks in Japan (the soups each morning were so very good!) Yoko was an absolutely brilliant host too. Great food and transport recommendations and super helpful with anything I needed, including helping me track down my bag and sending it on to the next hotel. I’ll definitely stay there next time I am in Kyoto, can’t recommend it highly enough.

United StatesWe stayed on the second floor and the staircase to the second floor landing is very steep and narrow so those traveling with large luggages should be cautious as they would have to carry the lugagges up themselves.
I like that the place had the layout and decor of a traditional Japanese Ryokan and yet it was very clean and neat. The hosts were also very friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to check in early, recommended some local attractions and restaurants, and also made dinner reservations for us.

Everything about the Mitsuki is amazing. The pictures and description are perfectly accurate. Yoko is the best host imaginable. She is very kind, attentive to all needs, and an all around wonderful host. She welcomed with tea and cake, always asked if we needed anything, helped book reservations, provided umbrellas, and made our time is Kyoto very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and on days we had to leave early she left packable breakfast. Rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. Perfect for two people. Location is great on a quiet street but felt immersed in local Kyoto and very close to subway lines which made it easy to get anywhere in the city. Laundry service was very prompt. Overall amazing

everything: absolutely faultless, would have given a 12 if it was allowed! Yoko, was the perfect host and her English is impeccable. full of attention and discreet at the same time. the Japanese breakfast she served us was sensational. the setting and the vibes of this 130years old building were fabulous and serene. our room (one of only two onsite) was on the ground floor, opening directly onto the cute garden, whilst still preserving privacy. Every details in our room were carefully chosen from the tea set to the bathroom, or our provided elegant yukata. our best night in Japan .

MalaysiaFor breakfast, you will be offered Japanese or Continental Breakfast. Choose the Japanese breakfast. I didn't really like the Continental Breakfast, I was curious therefore I tried. While in Japan, eat Japanese food!
Host is very attentive. The level of service given is very good. Excellent Japanese breakfast prepared daily with fresh ingredients from nearby market. They only have 2 rooms, which is why it is almost always fully booked. While the rooms are pricey, they are huge! I thoroughly enjoyed my ryokan experience. The train station is just a few minutes' walk away, very convenient.

United StatesThe location was ideal and easy to access the metro and visit the nearby temples. The ryokan was exceptionally beautiful and the best experience we had in Japan. The Japanese breakfast was delicious, we enjoyed every bit. The room we had was upstairs; it was very spacious and clean; heating/ac in very room (bathroom and bed area). Our host, Yoko, was beyond amazing! On day one she gave us a tour of the place and brought us tea and cake. The bar in the ryokan is a nice cozy spot where you can sometimes meet some fun locals or grab a drink and get recommendations for what to do in Kyoto. Yoko provided us with recommendations of places to see and places to eat. We had such a great time here and would definitely look into staying here again when we travel to Kyoto.
