Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe facility would benefit from a refresh. Some of the carpets were a little tired but still clean.
Of course the Onsen (Natural hot spring baths) were wonderful. The restaurant is also very good and the buffet style allowed us to try many different dishes.

United StatesWe stayed here to be close to the snow monkey park but learned on check-in that the road going north was closed making for a long drive around the mountains to see those darned monkeys…but it was worth it.
This property was a bit dated and appeared to be mainly for Japanese families on skiing vacation who wanted to soak in the onsen pools after a day on the slopes. The location was amazing and we very much enjoyed the spa facilities even though we felt a little out of place.

South KoreaLimitted food in the shop The shuttle bus is not reserved, although i requested more than 4 times via email and booking.com service center. No response from email. Some of the onset is closed for maintenance issues.
The onsen is available both in Kogen and Prince Hotel by shuttle bus. From Karuizawa to Hotel, there is a shuttle bus Easy to go from Tokyo. Onsen quality is good. After using onsen 3 times in 1 night, my body became so smooth! Reasonable price for a room Colorful onsen diversity Check my blog! https://m.blog.naver.com/cestmavieendieu/223285148420

MexicoThe hotel is a bit old and worn down. Also, beware, people with tattoos are not allowed in this onsen. This information was not clear in booking but we found out once we were there. Very secluded, nowhere to eat but there and the food is expensive.
The outdoor pools are very nice.

AustraliaWe have stayed in old hotels in Japan many times and although they are old they are clean and well maintained. The hotel is run down and needs renovation urgently. The hallway carpet, the wall and the elevator all don't look nice at all, we were hoping the room is better, but it is not. The carpet on the floor got marks everywhere. It really needs some work at least get the carpet changed. We initially book 3 nights but after the 1st night we decided to leave, the receiption agree to only charge one night which is nice.
The location is close to the ski lift and free shuttle bus from station (around 1 hour drive) but remember to book online ahead of your trip. The nature onsen is great if you like the authentic ones, however the facitlity in the onsen area is very basic compare to other onsen hotels or ski resorts we been to. The breakfast is ok.

JapanYou cannot reach this place without a car. No public transportation. Also, it is a not an onsen, as advertised, but rather a ski resort with onsen facility. Since most of the visitors were there for skiing, the entrance of the hotel was filled with people taking off their ski attire and the restaurant was served in a ski lodge-like cafeteria style. Carpet in the room was stained and looked dirty. From the pictures, the facility looked more like a quiet onsen hotel and in the onsen, the changing room where you dry your hair was freezing and I caught a cold after visiting. Overall, there were too many people (even in the onsen) to be able to enjoy the place. It might be better to visit during warmer seasons as it will be quieter.
One good aspect was the outdoor onsen, where you can see the beautiful night sky.

JapanWhat was on booking.com did not match the facilities. We selected a room with breakfast included- absolutely no meals were included. Every meal at the property had to be paid for separately and it was not was not cheap. The website also said there were private onsens for guests who had tattoos. There were no private onsens and the public one did not allow tattoos, so half the reason we went was not possible. This place was extremely secluded. The only other eating facility was the ski lodge which is open for a limited time and only on the weekends and cash only- there is no atm on the entire mountain. You also had to pay to go on and off the mountain to the resort, which required AWD or snow chains. If this is the way the hotel is run that’s completely okay, but the websites information does not match the amenities therefore we were completely disappointed and unprepared. We checked out early and my friend checked out earlier because they genuinely couldn’t afford to pay for every meal with all of their children which they could’ve planned for if booking.com was truthful on the site.

United StatesI didn't like the facility was dirty and run down. There was mold in the bathroom and the toilet was rusting all over. There was hair all over and the bed frames amd bathroom walls were dirty. The carpet was dirty and damp feeling and you couldn't control the temperature of your own room so it was incredibly hot with no relief because it was raining outside I couldn't open the window. The website falsely advertised a private onsen that we were not permitted to use. And despite paying for breakfast included at the time of booking i was still told I have to pay for breakfast a second time at the hotel. Overall the stay was very disappointing.
The location was the best part but there was alot of road closures and hard to navigate vage instructions on how to get there.
