Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaAwesome stay at a Japanese ryokan. Great welcome when arrived. Really nice spacious room with awesome decorations Great meals in the rooms. Access to two private onsens in Morizuya. Get a pass to the various onsens in Kinosaki, and get to walk around town in a yukata. Kinosaki was an awesome town to wander around.

Dinner was exceptional, multi-course meal -- I ate so much I didn't have much room for breakfast, which also looked fantastic. Both were traditional Japanese meals. Highly recommend.

The owners and helpers go out of their way to make sure you get the full ryokan experience. The owner starts off by taking your pictures at check-in and also when checking out. The have yukata and getta shoes for you to use along with an assortment of kimono to wear. On-site are 2 onsen baths. One is an indoor cave setup. While the other an indoor & outdoor rock combo setup. Then you receive a pass to use at any of the 6 public onsens. Gosho-no-Yu (2 minute walk) is easily the best onsen with a view of the mountain trees with waterfall. Ko-no-Yu (8 minute walk) is second best with its outdoor mountain view and is less crowded. Morizuya is centrally located and has a unique vantage point with a view of the ropeway and a bridge over the river canal. The kaiseki dinner & breakfast were delicious with a lot of attention to taste & presentation. Also, the desserts were unique. They also had home made plum wine with a nice delicate taste compared to most plum wines which tend to be excessively sweet. After checking out the owner hand delivered our luggage at the train station so we could take one last stroll down the canal and street leading to the train station. I highly recommend this ryokan to maximize the Kinosaki Onsen experience.

AustraliaThe experience at Morizuyu was delightful from the moment we arrived. We were offered a tea ceremony on arrival followed by a photo shoot in traditional dress. The host went to great effort to ensure we had the perfect shot. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both plentiful and delicious. When it was time for us to leave this beautiful location our luggage was even delivered by the host to the train station!

Privately owned 3 hot springs are as good as nearby famous hot springs, walking along the town with free trial of kimono was the best experience of this trip. Owner and his staffs are very friendly, especially the lady who helped us choose kimonos and taught us how to wear them was very tasteful.

Morizuya is run by a family and you actually feel like home. They are always helpful and always kind. I will make sure to visit them again next time I’m in Japan

United StatesNothing, everything was up to if not beyond standard.
Traditional ryokan with home-y feel. Location was very good. We had 2 twin rooms, one was bigger than the other but even the smaller one had generous space with a nice view from the window. Even the toilet is inside the room. Our friend used the private onsen and really enjoyed it. The breakfast kaiseki was well orchestrated and food was great, good variety of japanese breakfast, I imagine. There is a lot of love that was put into building and maintaining this ryokan. Hachisuko and his family were just amazing and went above and beyond our expectations. He is very flexible, accommodating and just happy to help with anything. He is a great photographer who helped us into our borrowed kimonos (from his mom’s precious collection) and set up parasols, took the best images outside the ryokan, along the street, by the river. It was everything, this is now part of our lovely core memories of the trip. The staff are also very kind and helpful.

I can’t express how much we enjoyed our time at Morizuya. We were greeted by the wonderful kind staff who welcomed us a little late after a long day of train travel. It was a delight to see our beautiful room and relax in the wonderful onsen both at the hotel and in the town. We lucked out and had the hotel onsen to ourselves both times we tried! The staff were so helpful and kind - they even offered to bring our bags to the train station for us when we were leaving. Such a wonderful place. Would highly recommend.

I cannot give this place enough stars!!! 😍 The location was excellent, They were so nice and helpful, the onsite onsens were lovely and not as overly hot as the onsens around the city. Plus there were hours where you could have them privately and be co-Ed. Most of the ones around town are separate. So not the romantic couples activity you might hope. The breakfasts were very fun and delicious and different both days. The owner of Morizuya inn was MY FAVORTE HOST IVE EVER HAD. I wish I remembered his name. He was so helpful with recommendations, he has a beautiful collection of kimonos you can borrow and wear around town (and the staff help dress you). He took a ton of photos of us all over the place. It was soooo cute. Basically a whole photoshoot with props and posing and locations. Then he did it again with just me when I happened to be going out just to get cute photos in my kimono. He took a ton more pictures of me on my cell phone. The most amazing part is after we checked out and he drove us to the train station with our bags in his car and dropped us off, he went back to the inn and his staff found my jewelry left behind on the counter. He came back to the train station, came through the gates, found me on the train in my seat and returned it to me!!! I cried. I couldn’t believe how sweet and how much effort he went to to return my items. kinosaki onsen town was so lovely and the owner of Morizuya is my favorite ever. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

CanadaOverall it felt a bit geared towards a non-Japanese client base, which can be a positive or a negative depending on who you are. The baths were a bit less hot than I would expect, and the breakfast selection also felt that way.
Overall a great Ryokan in the heart of the area making it very convenient and a good base for your stay if you plan to hop around. The private Onsen in the Ryokan were both pretty nice too. Would stay again for a short stay, but might look elsewhere if the Ryokan Experience was a top priority.

Lovely authentic ryokan in hot spring town. The owner is very welcoming and hospitable. The ryokan is comfortable for a big family and the private onsen is great. Perfectly located in the centre of town to walk to all the public onsens with one being next door. Meals were huge and well prepared. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially for helping with yakata and kimono dressing. A must place to visit, we will definitely be coming back here to stay again.
