Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanB'fast location (in the basement) wasn't great...No option available for dinner at the property - so had to go near the railway station.
Large hotel with a large room (by Japan standards). Room had a good view of the sorrounding hillside. Shuttle bus to and from the station was very convenient. The onsen was good. I had a massage at the spa - it was expensive but good...B'fast was strangely in a banquet hall - but had a reasonable variety including some western b'fast options.

United StatesSome issue with the breakfast: The Breakfast had variety but this variety repeated iteslf every day. The eggs and many other dishes were served cold. And the scrambled eggs were not real. Not sure how they were made but low quality. Also. the coffee was too strong and no option for a hot latte'. Also, there were no quality restaurants open at lunch. While we did ski in the morning, we took long lunch breaks and wanted a decent sit down lunch venue. Non available in the large hotel. Also, the shuttle shut down early at night which while written in Japanese. was not well communicated to English speakers.
The room was large and the view terrific. We enjoyed the very clean and well established onsen right in our own tower building. We used it daily often twice. The location in the mountains accessible to the town was a great joy. The ski hill was fun and has sufficient challenge for both intermediate and expert skiers. We enjoyed the shuttle and used it a few times. we also liked that there was a gift shop in the building. But the biggest surprise was the complimentary lift tickets. We enjoyed the convenience of the rental shop with friendly employees and having tickets with the room was appreciated.

JapanRoom smelled like someone was smoking in that room many times... you know that smell if you are non smoker. Airconditioning settings are low medium and high... no temp choice and even after whole night on high it was kinda warm in the morning and Sept is not really hot season. Room 936 if anyone interested.
The view from my room was breathtaking, room very spacious and elegant, even though a bit old interior.

JapanThe buffet was disappointing for the price (>20,000y for 2 adults and 2 kids) . The venue is in a basement with tables lined up in a grid. The food was average. The waiters are overwhelmed and you basically have to do everything yourself. You have to pay extra each time you use the pool, it feels like nickel-and-diming. I suspect it s to prevent the residents of the nearby Lion's mansion to go to the pool and overwhelm it but there should be some sort of free coupons for hotel guests. The resort doesn't allow snowboards at all. I understand it s one of the reason why skiers come here but I d like to be able to use my snowboard on the way up to the cable car connecting to Gala Yuzawa and then be able to go down when I come back from Yuzawa. Maybe make some slopes skiers only, but not the entire domain.
The location is good, right in front of the Yuzawa Kogen ski resort. The hotel staff is very friendly and speaks English. The Onsen is relaxing. The rooms are spacious and in although old, in good condition. The temperature in the hotel is well managed, rooms are hot, corridors are a bit cooler and the ski locker area is cold (which is what you want, otherwise you end up being sweaty in your ski gear)

JapanThe beds were very hard, two nights is ok after that it will be to hard.
The hotel had a shuttlebus from the station. That was great because we had a skibag with us. Next time we will send the skis one day before we arrive. The hotel is big, it has a shop, onsen. We tried the private bath, it was great with western style. Yamamoto has a desk at the hotel so you can easy leave your ski bag and send it to your home. The will help you to fill in the forms.
