Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMaybe it’s off peak by now but the massage spa isn’t open everyday and the karaoke rooms are shut. We wanted dining in the room at first but the reception was trying to tell us it’s very expensive and when we asked how much, she said they don’t have enough staff — so maybe book that ahead if you want to do that :)
The onsen on the left has an amazing outside section, with waterfalls etc. Just beautiful! They change sides for male/females daily so if you don’t see it, don’t worry, just wait till the next day. The breakfast is huge and has lots of things to try!

United StatesThe food. I know buffets can't cater to everyone, and this one tries really hard to have a variety of international dishes but none of them were fantastic. I'd recommend sticking to the Japanese sections of the buffet because everything else was disappointing. Also don't go during the last hour because everything is lukewarm/not hot enough.
Loved the resort and onsen. The outdoor bath was incredible and we loved the private bath in our room. The hotel is kept very clean, but the private bath in our room had quite a bit of mold everywhere. For such an upscale resort, I was surprised that part wasn't kept cleaner. Walkable to Noboribetsu's major sights--Jigoku Dani and the bear park. We wanted a classic Hokkaido onsen town experience, and Noboribetsu Grand Hotel and this cute little mountain town delivered!

CanadaDinner area was really hot. Perhaps the AC was down that weekend?
Onsen was wonderful. Probably one of the best onsens (natural sulfur from the area). Staff were very pleasant and it was located a short walk from Jigokudani. The evening walk there was very beautiful. Breakfast & lunch had a large variety of choices.

JapanHotel bar wasn't open when we stayed. Maybe because it was during Bon holiday week?
The onsen was great, with multiple types (Sulpher, Iron, Salt etc.), saunas, and plunge pools. The outdoor bath was very relaxing, with water cascading down the rocks, and many types of trees providing shade. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sourrounding area is very beautiful, we went to Jigokudani (Hell valley), and I went running up to Lake Kuttarra, a volcanic caldera, I saw lots of deer, but no one other people :)

Sweden- A lot of things in the hotel were closed with little to no explanation (bar, spa) - The baths and saunas were too hot to be comfortable - Mediocre service given the steep price - Very few options for vegetarians in the breakfast and dinner buffets
+ Moderately large room + Wide array for breakfast and dinner (if you eat meat, at least) + Clear allergy labels at the buffet + Two unique spa layouts with a variety of pools and saunas + Great location

IsraelThe smell of sulfur in the rooms are too strong, it’s really hard to sleep like that. It’s because of the Onsen on the second floor, so i think it’s my bad that I didn’t knew it before. But i still thinks that they could at least make the room air clean. but because its probably my bad - i give score 8 and not less. Also - most of the team at the reception don’t speaks English at all, only 1 woman that made a great job helping us and communicating with us. another thing that was depressing- they got only 3 elevators in such a big hotel, and especially in town that all of it meaning is to go outside everytime and not stay in the room, so it’s so annoying to wait for the elevator really long time, and also to stop in every single floor every time.
Great location for Nobiribetsu viewing, Very good breakfast, also great room.

Hong Kongwe asked the hotel to reserve a jumbo taxi to airport. but they came up with a private car which is not paid according to meter but a fixed price which is 1/3 more expensive. the hotel didnt tell us it was not a meter taxi at the point of reservation, we only know when we actually saw the car. they should let us know the price when at the point of reservation. we had no choice but to take it because we had a flight to catch. training of the staff need to be improved.

Good onsen hotel with several different types. Room size is bigger than most in Japan. Free parking is nice considering the town isn't connected too well w/ public transportation, would have stunk to have to pay for parking.
