We chose the „western breakfast“. Many parts of it were not really western (e. g. chicken salad, shrimps, clam chowder, fish, pasta, ratatouille, dessert). Even though it‘s nice to have a big choice, it‘s unfortunate to see the food waste. It would be nicer to select what you‘d really like to have for breakfast and what not. However, the food was really good.

Very friendly staff, they explained everything very detailed. Nice private and public onsen. The hotel is very easy to reach from Gora station. Everything was clean and there were rooms where we could take water, beer and some little snacks for free.

Ramen bar timing was quite late into the night. It was a little hard to look for food options around the hotel as many stores close their shop early. But nonetheless, the hotel has a dinner service and free ramen bar service. Didn't like that the onsen water inside the room was too hot. It took quite a bit of time for the water to cool down.

Liked the additional dinner. The course meal was really delicious! Before my stay, the staff replied quickly to my queries over Booking.com. During our stay, the concierge staff has been attentive and polite. I felt like my stay at suiun has been the best embodiment of the Japanese hospitality. I was surprised that it was easy to enter the private onsen bath, and it was really easy to use the onsen bath inside the hotel room. Also enjoyed the late night Ramen supper!

Very little english spoken .We didnt book half board but were told we didnt need to book dinner. Come 8pm and we go for dinner, they didnt have any space and any restaurant in town (not many) have last order at 8.30pm. The hotel didnt give any recommendation either nor helped us find a restaurant. So by the time they told us there was no space for dinner at the hotel restaurant and by the time we went outside…everything was closed. Bottom line: no matter what they say , book dinner.

Very cute and clean traditional hotel. Onsen is amazing with private & public ones as well as one in your room! It’s a fantastic local experience. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Very close to the train station (although up a short but very steep road).

It is a Classical Japanese hotel with private spa. The breakfast is quite amazing for its taste and variety. I would stay with them absolutely when next time I travel to Hakone.

Enjoyed the nice beakfast (you can choose between Japanese and Western styled breakfast). The room is great, with onsen-like bath. Staff is very profesional, rooms are realy clean. I used private en public onsen on site, both were great.

This stay has all the necessary amenities and facilities to wind down and relax. From included snacks and drinks to really nice private baths. It is a good value to relax for a couple of days. I definitely recommend it and will come back.

Was uphill so not conducive for those with a large luggage. The place said we could ask for a ride to the station upon departure but only told us at the last min we would have to wait 10min, so I suggest to check in advance. We didn’t get their food as reviews weren’t positive, but there’s a lack of convenience stores and restaurants around so make sure you bring your own.

Quiet, has own in room onsen. Fresh clothes and room cleaning service provided daily. Bed was super comfortable and area was large with supper & drinks provided for free.

Nothing - it was an amazing experience throughout.

The private hot springs bath within the room itself was phenomenal, the rooms were clean and you could tell there was lots of attention and care to small details in the room to ensure we were comfortable. There were free beverages and small snacks provided, and even choices of different types of pillows to use if you'd like to switch yours out to something else. Only a few minutes away from Gora station, and the garden at the entrance is beautiful and so calming! We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay - food was delicious and very true to the photos shown

This place was absolutely incredible! The property offers a truly authentic ryokan experience, the bar lounge downstairs had unlimited free drinks and snacks, and the dinner they served was exquisite. The private onsen on our balcony was the perfect way to unwind after a big day of walking, and the other private onsens were huge! During our three-week stay in Japan, this place was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. If I had any complaint, it would be that I wished we had stayed longer in Hakone and especially at this ryokan.

We booked a quadruple room - was a bit tight for 4 of us. We arrived at around 5 pm and they could not organise dinner for us as apparently notice was too short. Gora is a small place with few restaurants. We had to queue up for about an hour at a nearby restaurant for dinner.

Excellent facilities with private, public and in room onsen facilities. Fantastic Japanese breakfast. Suiun provided us pick up and drop to Gora station. Overall a good experience.

The reservable / private hot springs were often too hot and there is no way to cool them down or stop the hot water coming in for a couple of minutes.

Wished we could have stayed longer, but we were lucky to get a night here on short notice. The location was a bit far, although that was the joy of the experience. Nothing erally stood out as bad here.

The food at Suiun was fantastic and worth being there. The staff treated us well from the moment we stepped into the hotel to the moment we left. The hot springs were worth experiencing.
