Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeAircon was central one so only able to select fan speed. It was a bit hot especially at night even with the windows opened in late kspring. The bedroom has an unpleasant smell in the entrance area (not from smoking) even after using the air freshener. Probably due to toilets located at door entrance. Not sufficient space for 3 luggages and only 1 special mat for 1 luggage so as not to damage the tatami. In the morning after room are cleaned up, you can see that there are many scratches on the beautiful tatami, a sorry sight. Futons are laid out when we leave for dinner, the area was tight & crammed for 4 adults (16 sqm equivalent to 9 tatami). The coffee tables are stacked up and left not much space to move around and to open 3 luggages. We found that single/double/triple occupancy also uses the same room types so it does not make sense. The room would only be just nice for 2 adults. The numerous room types are displayed in a room map.
No reply regarding guests enquiries on booking.com enquiries and requests. However, they apologised and replied after we managed to get assistance from booking.com Extremely nice & warm reception with 2 very helpful & strong lady staff to handle our luggages at drive-in. Appreciated this assistance. Checkin is assisted by a helpful and patient English speaking staff. The beer and ice cream were served upon checkin due to part of Golden week promotion. There is also a jazz performance at hotel lobby. The room is nice and cozy. Onsen lockers & sinks were kept clean and well supplied with necessary creams & lotions. Panoramic view in an outdoor onsen has a silky bath and a couple of indoor bath. It also offered panoramic view of the city lights at night. Public onsen baths were kept clean and very spacious. It also has a fenced up outdoor onsen with greenery and a soothing sight. We prefer the public bath to panoramic one as we are often out during the day and only use it after Kaiseki dinner. There is nothing much to see after dark. A nice and cozy corner for dinner. The Kaiseki dinner was superb with shinshu pork & clams hot pot. Teppanyaki beef slices were juicy & tender. 2nd night dinner was delicious too. Chicken made into balls in creamy hot pot soup and lots of different veggies like watercress, enoki mushrooms and cabbages. Buffet style breakfast is delicious.

United KingdomThe location. The hotel is 7km outside Matsumoto centre although is well-served by a local bus as well as the hotel’s own shuttle bus. This is a large hotel complex but unless you have pre-booked dinner at least 24 hours before, the only option is to head back into town or find a convenience store as there is no room service or local restaurants.
Easy accommodation on the outskirts of Matsumoto. Appeared to have great Onsen facilities but did not have time to try them as only stayed one night. Breakfast the best of our trip so far.

SingaporeCould be a bit hard to get to the location without a car. There is a bus from Matsumoto station that will take you there but it is not going to have much space for luggage. The staff try their best but not all of them can speak English. Best if you can speak a bit of Japanese
Excellent Ryokan with many options for the onsen. It was worthwhile booking with dinner and breakfast. Dinner was delicious and breakfast selection was huge.

JapanThe staff was courteous and helpful. Many spoke English, so while we never expect it, it's always a bonus and makes things easier. The breakfast bar had a wide assortment of both typical Japanese and Western breakfast foods. And dinner was AMAZING. It started with appertif, then appetizers, sashimi, hot pot, grilled meat... There were at least 8 or 9 different servings. We were stuffed and couldn't finish everything (but I tried 😉). The onsens were luxurious, as was our room, which came with the sauna. We had a room with a tatami and roll-out beds, so I could've used a little more padding, but that didn't detract from the experience at all. I enjoyed this girl's trip so much I booked again with my family.

SwedenAs I have lived in Japan many years I understand that tattoos are still somewhat associated with yakuza. However, this day and age I think that foreigners with small tattoos should be allowed to enter the onsen. I think more and more modern thinking onsens do like that.
Everything was very nice and clean and staff were very very helpful. Food wise dinner was great and the breakfast buffet had everything we could wish for. Onsen was nice but not extraordinary.

SingaporeI really have nothing to add here, considering the reasonable price I have paid. Only perhaps travellers should note that this is quite far off the city.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Onsen venues are remarkable. Huge and has good views in one of them. Food spread at breakfast is sumptuous, allowing us to taste the different Jap cuisines all in the morning! The dinner was also a good experience with quality food served. I must commend on a staff at the reception who took the initiative to reserve a place for us when she learnt where we were going. Without that, the second night dinner could not have taken place as the place was run by only one person.
