The property is lovely and the owner/host extremely friendly and helpful, a man happy with his life. He provided free transport to and from the ferry to cat island, and back to the train station. He has many cats that guests are welcome to interact with. Highly recommend this hotel. We were sad to leave this one. Very good value for money.

The facilities were wonderful, the host was exceptionally helpful and friendly (he even drove us to the ferry terminal and picked us up), and there was a cat lounge in the building adjacent full of very cute cats that we could visit. There was a great Japanese-style bath and even a massage chair in our room which we all enjoyed :)

Tama Hotel and sister hotel M&K is a must stay! The rooms are comfortable, with TVs and fridges, cleaned regularly and you're provided with an abundance of amenities. Amazing value for money!! The location is right by a beautiful canal and is a short walk to the JR station Rikuzen Yamashita. The owner is also super lovely and extremely helpful. I came to ishinomaki to visit Tashirojima (cat island) and Matsushima Bay and this was the perfect place to stay! The owner provided a free shuttle to the ferry for cat island, gave me breakfast from a local bakery on the way, helped me to buy my ticket and then picked me up again from the returning Ferry! He also provided free bikes to use to explore ishinomaki more. The hotel also has a cat salon with 11 cute cats you are free to go to and spend time with whenever you like! The hotel also has a cute shop with souvenirs, and the owner gave me a present from here at the end of my stay. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay. I am sad to be leaving and hope to visit again soon. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ishinomaki - it's the best!

It was all good! It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s not super fancy & out of town a bit, but we had a great stay.

The owner is lovely. Super accommodating & helpful. He took us to the ferry for Tashirojima & picked us up afterwards even though we were heading back to Tokyo. And there are resident cats that you can play with not to mention cat decor (doona covers, etc.)!

The room was comfortable and a great value, being able to play with the cats was a great treat. The owner was lovely, even offering to take us to the port to catch the morning ferry to the cat island.

Honestly everything was fine --and for the price, you cannot beat it.

The owner of this hotel was one of the kindest people I met in all my travels. He let me check in early (so nice), but it didn't stop there. The next day, he drove me to the ferry so that I could go to the cat island (Tashirojima) AND THEN came back at the end of the day with my luggage and drove me to the train station. THERE'S MORE: I met two other travelers on the island and when the owner saw they didn't have a way to the train station, also had them ride along. True, true kindness. The only downside thing to say is that this hotel is not super close to the ferry/downtown, but it is right by a train station, so it is easy to get to from the JR. I don't mind walking, so my first day there I didn't have an issue getting to the downtown via walking. Also, if you love cats like I do, this place is for you-- as the space next to the hotel has all the owner's cats, who are just the sweetest, cutest babies. The room was comfortable and met all my needs.

Nothing. Our stay was very memorable and enjoyable despite being a short stay.

The owners, including Tama the cat, are wonderful. They provide top level hospitality services that have far surpassed even the 4-star hotels I've stayed in, in various countries around the world. Professional and friendly, and doing everything for their guests to make it all as convenient and comfortable as possible. Even though we had our own car, they drove us to the port for Cat Island, organized our ticketing and even picked us up upon our return. All the facilities were clean and modern as well. Tama and the cat brothers and sisters were such a delight I wish we had more time to spend with them. Whenever we return I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

The man in the reception was the sweeties guy and nice. He helped us and take us in the morning to the cat island in his van. The hotel was super nice rooms and facilities. Incredible experience!

We checked in at 10 p.m., but the owner still stayed at the counter to discuss our options for travelling to Ayukawa port the next morning and offer us options for luggage delivery to our next location. He even offered us a ride to the train station the next morning when he already had another ride scheduled. The room had lots of space and facilities and was clean. Thank you so much!

The owner was fantastically friendly to us— he drove us to the ferry to Tajirojima Island (Cat Island) and was waiting to pick us up when the ferry returned. The hotel was a 10-minute walk from the train station Rikuzen-Yamashita. The new building that we stayed in was very clean and the double beds were comfortably big.

No one was there to either check me in or even just take my luggage when I first arrived. I had to find some place in town to just wait with my bags for a while.

The cats you could play with in the building next door were very cute, but really the highlight of this place was that not only did they drive me to the ferry in the morning for the trip to the cat island, they also picked me up when I got back and took me to the train station with my luggage. Great value!

Some of the things we loved about the property include its owner's exceptional hospitality, the free transportation to the ferry terminal and train station, the spacious and clean rooms with high-tech Japanese toilets, and the delightful opportunity to spend time with the owner's cats next door. These features made our stay at TAMA Hotel truly enjoyable and memorable.

Good service, many free services, everything was clean and it owner has his own cat house😊where customers can play with the cats. The property is kind of cat themed where cat lovers should try once, great value if you are going to cat Island

The walls of the hotel are a little thin, I could hear my neighbors coughing or zipping up their suitcases. Made me very wary of the sounds I might have made. I also intended to do some laundry, but the instructions are in Japanese (and my Japanese level at this time was quite terrible). I suggest asking for help from the staff in this regard. Other than those, the hotel is awesome!

Staff was amazing, I was brought to and from the port by the owner when I was going to Tashirojima (Cat Island). Rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfast is simply amazing, the owner likes to cook. The location is convenient, especially if you have a car. Even if you don't, the hotel has bicycles that you can borrow free of charge. There are great, friendly izakaya nearby with delicious food.
