Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything, room was spacious, comfy, well equiped and most importantly with views of Fuji. The property has own onsen, they serve you with complimentary tea and coffee. Staff spoke just a little English, nevertheless everyone was super nice and helpful. Also the place is located right next to lakes and parks. Also restaurants and shops are in close vicinity.

CanadaI wish there were more than two electrical outlets in the room. One is for the TV, and the other is for a plug that came out from the wall. I had to play Switcheroo with all my devices and the TV.
Beautiful view of Lake Kawafuchiko right from my hotel room's window. One of the hotel owners will pick you up and drop you off at the Kawafuchiko station. They also have free bikes for the guests to ride around. No need to rent them.

United KingdomNothing!
The property is absolutely beautiful - it's right by the park next to the Kawaguchi Lake, and the rooms either have a view of the lake or Mt Fuji. It's hard to put in words just how blown away we were by the property. First, the facilities were all very well-maintained and clean. The ryokan is much more modern than we first expected, and it feels quite luxurious. It is well heated despite how cold it was outside. The owners are clearly experienced professionals as they have all the systems down to a T -- from the timing of the onsens (there is both an indoor and a semi-outdoor one, with a huge glass window that has a view of the lake); the sandals we wear indoors; the set-up of the living room that allows all the guests to make their own tea, relax in their own way; the incredibly filling breakfast in the morning; the pick-up and drop-off service to the train station; the bathroom and the toiletries... we were very sad to have only spent one night there. If we could, we would have spent a whole week. For the price we paid, we got so much in return. We couldn't speak much Japanese but the owners were very friendly and helpful, and we'd like to thank them for their wonderful hosting.

Location right by the Yagizaki Parc, on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, but most important with an absolutely stunning view on the Mount Fuji. Hotel is designed like a Ryokan: rooms with Tatami mats, comfortable futons as beds, shared bathrooms with small Onsen, optional breakfast (changes by day between Japanese and western style).

SingaporeThin walls.
Room was very spacious and we had a great view of the park too as we had the corner room. Futons were pretty comfortable other than the small pillow. The shared bath had a view of Sakura trees it was great. We opted for the breakfast for a morning and it was a homely meal with the view of Sakura trees. There were free bicycles for use as well provided by Togawaso.

United KingdomThe hotel is a little dated but honestly this did not affect my trip at all.
The perfect place to relax away from the crowds around Kawaguchiko. The experience is typical Japanese, but feels genuine (rather than a gimmick for tourists). The couple who run the hotel are lovely and super helpful and welcoming. The views of Kawaguchiko at breakfast are perfect. We also had a stunning view of Fujisan from our bed...! The bathing experience is particularly nice! Good value for money too. Good breakfast (both Western and Japanese). Easy access to the tourist bus. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a relaxing place to stay.

Indiathe location is only accessible by walk ! no nearby restaurants ( when we went it was at least a half an hour walk to the nearby restaurant so we. could not eat dinner as it was tooo cold and we had a baby so walking for half an hour and coming back another half an hour in the cold was not an option , there’s is no public transport we can take to go around from the hotel , we have to go to the main bus station and then take the local bus for local siteseeing ! the owner drops you to the main station at 8/9 and 10 am so we have to depend on him to get to the station or book expensive cabs !
The Japanese style room is clean beautiful and spacious ! very clean , Good Japanese breakfast at an additional cost! the onsen here is sooo relaxing ! the best and the most gorgeous view of Mount Fuji from our room ! the owner picked us up from the bus station and dropped us back to the bus station ! one side is the kawaguchiko lake and the other side is Mount Fuji so the view is beautiful! there’s cycle at the property and coffee !

Australia- Onsen had condensation all over the ceiling, which would drop ice cold darts when least expected, was great otherwise. - It is a fair bit away from most things walking distance wise, make sure you have alternative transport. - Traditional Ryokan style isn't for everyone, this isn't a complaint but please be mindful of this.
-Location was fantastic, our room window looked out to Mount Fuji and on the otherside of the Ryokan was Yagizaki park and it's gorgeous lavender (although give it was winter we didn't see any) and a short walk to the lake edge -Staff were kind enough to pick us up from the bus/train station, otherwise it would have been a 7-8 minute drive. -We were given loan bicycles which we used to cycle around the edge of the lake, it's fantastic although it does take a fair amount of time. A electric bicycle would cover more ground as the lake is definitely worth exploring. -Onsen was nice -Room was comfortable and roomy -The entrance lobby looked great
