Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Taiwan(1) The size of the room is extremely small. (2) Although the room has a window, it is very close to the building next to it, so I wouldn't even think about opening the window.
Breakfast is fantastic, and the hot spring spa is a plus!

ItalyThe staff speaks little English and communication can be difficult.
Super well located, close to metro and bus stops. The area is authentic with a looot of cheap but fantastic restaurants around. Very nice room (small but modern) with very nice shower and bathroom. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of Japanese and western food. There is a free Onsen (spa), an amenities bar with all necessities to be taken for free from tea to razors or cosmetics. The tv is equipped with Netflix and chrome cast, they also provide traditional pyjamas and slippers. You can also get massages in the hotel.

BelgiumThe restaurant was often fully booked in the evening during out stay, so we could not have dinner on site.
Very friendly, professional and helpful staff members. We could leave our luggage before checking in. We had a clean and comfortable room. Enjoyable spa / public baths with hot water baths and sauna. (Note that there are two types of spa, which switch between male/female-only every day). Free drinks (coffee, water...) were available in the lobby. Very close to a bus station. You can also buy Kyoto bus day-passes tickets at the front desk. A nice extra touch was a daily print-out of the condition of the cherry blossom trees throughout Kyoto. Overall we highly recommend this hotel for staying multiple days as a tourist.

United Arab EmiratesNo coffee in rooms although they do have it downstairs in reception.
Very close to Nijo station. Direct line to Bamboo Forest and Kyoto station. Also lots of bus routes outside e.g. the Golden Temple. Slightly out of the tourist area to avoid the chaos but all areas were easy to get too. Room was a good size compared to similar properties in Tokyo or Osaka.

AustraliaThe area was pretty grim. The decor wasn’t great and the window was closed in which made the room very dark.

HungaryIt is booked for 2 adults and a 5-year-old child, but at the time of check-in they said that only the accommodation is free for the child, but not the breakfast. After I indicated that this was not in the confirmation, they kindly offered our child the free breakfast. To avoid similar problems in the future, I recommend including this in the description of the room or hotel. It's a small thing, but it's better to use the laundry next door instead of the hotel's, it's much more efficient.
We had a great time at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very varied and tasty, it was not boring even after 6 days. All staff members were very nice. There was also a great supermarket, drugstore and laundromat nearby, which greatly helped our family vacation. Bus stop in front of the hotel, metro and JR station 5 minutes on foot. Although it is not in the most historic quarter, we would be happy to choose it again next time.

United StatesI wish the place had been closer to the city center, but the public transit ease of use helped alleviate this concern to some extent.
Place was super clean, great rooms and bathrooms, great location for access to public transit (bus/jr line) and convenience store(711) and a friendly staff. Spa was good for the size hotel as well.

AustraliaRoom location was near train line so was noisy with window open and still noticeable when closed. While a non smoking hotel throughout some cigarette odour was apparent at times.
Great location with nearby supermarket, subway and train stations. Five minute walk to Nijo castle. Great buffet breakfast. Room was adequate without being overly spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Great shower. Free coffee station was great.

BelgiumThe washing facilities did not function properly (especially the drying function), the breakfast was not as advertised (but still good), a lot of noise of the trains that pass by the hotel (if you sleep at the rail road side), the glass door in the toilet might be an architectural mistake (you can borrow screens to put over the door), there were no water bottles in the room. The rooms are too small for big luggages.
The free coffee and tea at the entrance was nice. The staff was always friendly and helpful, the onsen was okay, close to a subway station, train station and bus stop.
