Meals were served in the restaurant instead of in the room. The meals were delicious and deceptively filling (as in, you wouldn't think you'd get full but you do!). Our room was amazing with a great view. The in-room onsen worked perfectly.

While it's not so much what the establishment did wrong, but I wish there was a bit more variety outside of fish for their kaiseki. My partner doesn't eat fish much, so whenever we did have our meals at the ryokan, it wasn't as enjoyable for him as it was for myself. But that's a personal preference.

My partner and I are tourists from America, and despite the staff not really knowing how to speak English, they tried their best to communicate with us and explain things as thoroughly as possible! While the location is a little further out (it's about a 25 minute train ride to Kyoto proper), the ryokan itself is quiet and serene. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The room I booked was very scenic and the bath was perfect!

I asked the staff how to get to Biwako Valley, which is a main attraction close by, they should know that the Valley is closed from Mid Nov to Mid Dec. It was disappointed that the staff's lack of knowledge to guide us a bit more accurately. There are LOTS of food for dinner and breakfast, instead of providing large quantity, it could improve in its quality.

They offer pick up from the station, which is very nice. There is lake view and private onsen in our room, which is very enjoyable. The room size is super big, good for family.

Perhaps the front door man could be a bit more welcoming when we arrive or leave the hotel. But in all we were able to manage on our own. The corridors can be a bit dimly lit too.

I love that you provide halal food for both breakfast and dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the spread! Love the small supermarket and yukata provided to us. Love the view of Lake Biwa from our room and the spaciousness of the room. We were delighted that there is a private onsen in the room too.

We wish there was a return shuttle service to the area near the lake included for a fee of course

Check in was right on time and shuttle pickup was smooth- journey took about 5 min from ogotoonsen station. We requested for halal meals and were very pleased with the array of traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. The private bath in the room was great too with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved the tatami and futon prepared carefully and the facial wash, toner and moisturiser included in the toiletries 🥰

Everything. The service provided is top notch even though we are using English as a medium of speak. The room is spacious and the bath provided is just so good. Since we're ordering Halal menu set, I would say the menu is fantastic as it includes seafood, beef and chicken which is hard to find for halal option here. The shuttle service also is quite helpful as there is no medium of transportation to the Ryoukan from the station and a mobile phone is provided to contact them at the station.

There should be a few activities on in the ryokan like a table tennis room or something like that to keep bored guests occupied. The bath tub in the room takes 40 minutes to fill up, which can be a bit long if you're in a hurry,

Yuzanso is a beautiful Ryokan with a view over lake Biwa. The rooms are great and have a beautiful view over Lake Otsu from the bathtub in the room. The best thing about Yuzansou is that they offer halal options to Muslim travelers, one of the only Ryokans in Japan. So now even Muslims can get the full japanese ryokan experience.

We could feel the springs on the bed. Location was a bit out of the way and there wasn't anything much that we could do outside of the hotel (we didn't have any private transport). Shuttle only goes to the train station and back to the hotel.

We loved that there were halal meals available and private open-air onsen! Food was great. We could experience halal Japanese course meal and were well taken care of by the service staff. Do note that if you want to have soft drinks during dinner, it is chargeable. The room we booked was very huge! There is a shuttle bus that will pick you up from the station. There's a handphone that is attached to the sign (numbers filled with all the hotels that has shuttle service). You just need to select 'Yuzanso' and inform the hotel staff that you have reached the train station. They will then arrange for the shuttle to pick you up.

    - improve the air-conditioning as it felt a bit warm during the day (early autumn) - sew the comforters as some feathers flew out - add few more vending machines

    - driving 10mins away from Ogotoonsen station - free shuttle van bringing us to the ryokan (call them for pick up when you arrived at the station) - peaceful neighbourhood - the ryokan was very spacious! - enjoyed the time spent in the outdoor open bathtub (made with cypress wood) - nice view of the Lake Biwa! (can view sunset and sunrise) - breakfast was served in a private room in one of the restaurants. It was nice and filling! - we believe they served us the local breakfast with fish, rice, soup and side dishes. - had enjoyable time at the public onsen. We went during non-peak hours, it was nice and not crowded at all.

Do not book this hotel - the rooms and public spaces are old and dirty, this place hasn’t been renovated in decades it appears. The bed sheets were stained with yellow fluids and dirty, and the walls in the rooms were also dirty. The front desk staff are not helpful. This hotel feels more like a scam than a relaxing vacation, as everything you’d want (even coffee with the included breakfast comes at an extra charge). We attempted to call several different days, and send messages directly to the hotel and spa to book a massage - none of which were answered. The food at the hotel (including the traditional Japanese dinner) was not good. We even clarified at check-in that we do not eat fish, and were assured the dinner meal was beef. Upon arriving at dinner, we learned that in fact the meal was solely fish, with 3 small 1cm x 1cm pieces of beef at the end. We weren’t able to eat the meal and left hungry with no other options. The breakfast the following morning was the same, all items are fish. They also close the public baths during the day which was not made clear at the time of booking

The private onsen in the room was as described, but the rooms lack any in-door shower.
