Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaThe room was a little dusty. Toilets were shared. We had to wait when there were lots of guests.
Very near the station and very helpful and friendly staff. Transportation wasn’t a problem at all because they sent and picked us up.

SingaporeNot having used a Futon before, perhaps some simple instructions and tips on how to lay a futon would be fantastic. Stairs were a little tight and using the provided slippers to move around within the complex made it a little difficult due to sizing.
We get the full experience of a traditional tatami room with Futons for beds. The room was cozy, place was clean and the internet was fantastically fast and reliable. Air conditioning and electric heater was provided as it can get very cold.

TaiwanNot much, everything was great. Only if staying on 4th floor, it would be tiring to climb up from the bathroom, which is in B1
Super convenient- around 10 mins walk to the guesthouse, and ski equipment shop just downstairs! Transportation between most snow resorts are a big plus, and the equipment are nice. Super good for first time skier/ snowboarder English/ Chinese/ Japanese are available.

JapanI am a light sleeper and I could hear everything that was going on in other rooms. But that was the only minus for me. My teenager son slept through everything.
The ski house was wonderful. The staff at the place made us feel instantly welcome. I guess it's the easy-going vibe of skiers and snowboarders :) You obviously know you are not for a luxurious stay when you book a room with a shared bathroom, but the place is very clean, well thought through and has all the necessities. It's a quick walk from the shinkansen station. The futons/ blankets are super warm, we didn't even need to use a heater during the night(January) Nice breakfast was provided for a very reasonable price.

Hong KongThey only have one hair dryer so you might need to wait for a bit if someone is using it.
The staffs are friendly and helpful. I love their shuttle service to different ski resorts and the train station which made our ski trip much more easier. Also, the environment was clean and I was comfortable to use the shared toilet.

JapanLots of things.
Weird place. First floor was a busy ski rental shop with a tiny front desk. Upstairs were small rooms with shared toilets and bath. Basement public bath was excellent. Second floor dining room was attractive. Yuzawa has basically only one street, a busy street, narrow and uncomfortable when walking. Only one street for shopping and dining with most restaurants and bars and cafes closed. Hard to find a place to eat in the evening. Whole town a bit shabby and uninteresting. No log cabins. No fireplaces. Not attractive. Not festive at all! Many Chinese tourists. Karuizawa in Nagano is way better!

The location is acceptable for only take 10 minutes walk from echigo-yuzawa. It’s a family run business with getting involved every members. They were quite flexible to adjust our breakfast time earlier from 0730am to 0630am to facilitate our early ride of bus at 0715am. That means kitchen staff were required to get up earlier for preparation of dishes. In addition, owners daughter had offered to drive us to JR station in the light of heavy rain outside. The most importance of all was that the cleanliness they were keeping very well. Although it is not a big hostel, they provided comfort, friendly and warm hospitalities during our stay. I’ll rate them very good in overall aspect and recommend to those who’ll going to visit echigo- yuzawa.

SingaporeNo lift and have to climb up to level 3 for my room. Unable to communicate much in English. Abit busy when there's rental customers and staying customers around.
There is an equipment rental shop on the first floor. Transport was provided from train station to their place and also back to train station. There's ferry service to ski resorts available too. After a day of activity, there's hot spring available at their basement. Water temperature is perfect for a cold and tiring day Staffs are friendly too.
