The service was very slow for dinner service... The beds could be more comfortable and need to offer a blanket. I only had a very thin sheet that felt like a curtain. The chained elephants that were separate to the main herd was a little confusing.... You can see the elephants up close when they're not chained,so to keep only a few chained to keep them still and close is very unnecessary. If I hadn't of booked a balcony room I don't think I would have enjoyed the rooms as much (I saw the other rooms when they were open for cleaning).

I had booked a triple room with the river balcony and it was amazing! The pool exceeded my expectations. Seeing the elephants made for a very special stay! The hotel itself is very pretty, especially the grand entrance. My room was very big.

The hotel has undoubtedly seen better days)) but, overall, everything is pretty good, it’s more than suitable for spending the night and looking at the elephants in the morning. And, by the way, getting up at seven in the morning is completely optional. At ten in the morning almost everyone is brought in for a wash, it’s much more interesting. P.S. Don’t agree to feed the elephants, throwing bamboo stumps in the water for 5000 rupees is not worth it))) P.P.S The pool is good, yeah))

Although clean the hotel was scruffy in places and could do with a makeover. Not surprising though after the economic woes faced by Sri Lanka.

The view overlooking the pool towards the elephants feeding during the day. The food was good, albeit a bit pricey. It's worth getting out a bit and exploring the zoo, shops and other places in the area.

The location is fantastic. The sound of the water was very relaxing, the view is uninterrupted, and it was quite something seeing the elephants come to bathe while having breakfast 😀 The room was clean.

Couldn’t check in until 4pm. The room was musty and smelled bad. The equipment is old especially in the bathroom. Overpriced breakfast!

Reception and service should advise on hotel arrival time explaining the payment the entrance fee. Arriving after 8:30am directly from the Bandaranaike International Airport, we experienced great misunderstanding with physical getting to the hotel. The information about the arrival times and instruction how to act when you miss the arrival time - should reach the visitor via booking.com. Hotel Management should work on this. The room service did their best, but Wifi didn't appear in my room.

The main treasure was the location and the view, possibility to observe unbelievably picturesque life of elephants sitting on the balcony. Breakfast excellent, food, cocktails, catering service - perfect. When arriving from the airport, the pool helps to adapt the hot climate we're not used to. Would suggest this hotel to begin the voyage in Sri Lanka - a very impressive start. The room was moderately clean, so the bathroom. Very comfortable bed.

Rooms are a bit old and the bathrooms werent cleaned. There was one waiter who was stealing money from the hotel. Also the food was quite expensive. The late checkin is also a deal breaker.

Be carefull of the group of scamers who wait at the beginning of driveway to the hotel. They will try to persuade you to see other elephants than those in the orphanage or use only their taxi. We do not recommend it they are expensive and they lie.

The location for seeing the elephants in the river is great. It is near to elephant orphanage too. The hotel is now little bit old it must have been famous once.

Bedroom needed complete refurbishment. Inadequate bedding. Lighting needed cleaning. Reception light switches never been cleaned. Perhaps a trained housekeeper is required.

Views from hotel and bedroom. Lovely swimming pool and bar and eating area. Has great potential but needs a lot of work. Staff happy and smiling. Food OK.
