Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThere is certainly room for improvement. We stayed in a 'deluxe room', which whilst more modern and possibly slightly larger than the standard room, they weren't as nice as the standard rooms. The location is a modern block on the edge of the property and the outlook over, what feels like, an unfinished pool area is not very nice. The rooms on the bottom floor have no view and no privacy. We moved to a room on the floor above which was better. The food was very disappointing. Trip Advisor mentions different menus and specials. That isn't the case. The menu remains the same and is fairly limited. This was the worst food we experienced during our stay on the island. The breakfast in particular was really lacking. Expensive and 80% was pastries. The beach is lovely, but if you are looking for that clear sea and the chance to swim, then this isn't the best location. The tide goes out a long way and as it is very shallow, the sea often looks dark and cloudy with the sand being disturbed. There was also a snooker/pool table which we thought might be fun in the evening, but it remained covered up and out of use as the cues were apparently broken.
We stayed at this hotel at the end of our trip, so had other places and accommodation to compare it to. The location is very quiet on a nice sandy beach. The restaurant/bar/pool area was very attractive. The beds and linen were the nicest we had during our stay on Nosy Be and were very comfortable. There were some beautiful sunsets.

ItalyA certain lowliness of restoration personnel who probably needs more training. But it's madagascar, and we don't have to forget. There's a work attitude that is very common in that area, not owners' responsability
Contacts with the owners, so nice and friendly people, the location, rooms, outside peaceful space, clean context tours leaving from the hotel, very good food and cocktails

PolandThe hotel manager (owner?) was not very polite, felt as if she was watching us all the time. The restaurant is not very good, the staff are very slow and the food is good but not exceptional, better to eat somewhere else most of the time. The chairs on the beach were very uncomfortable. The massage oils and the spa overall didn't smell very nice. The pool is rather small.
Lovely hotel, comfortable beds, great massage, nice staff, very clean, great beach, very calm, beautiful garden, decent location, warm welcome upon arrival.

United KingdomNothing.
This is like a home from home, Elma, Scott and the team make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The food, particularly the pasta, was incredible. Beautiful decor, immaculately presented, perfectly situated, on site help to plan excursions and the friendliest staff ever. Absolutely loved my stay here. Couldnt recommend more highly.

CanadaNot enough variety for breakfast options. Room doesn't have hot water in shower.
The rooms are spacious and clean. Love the private beach access. Staff are very responsive for both prior to check ins and during the hotel stay. Our flight back to Tana actually got delayed multiple times and the owner (Elma) and her staff were keeping us informed and arranged us to stay for one more night. Much appreciated! Location is great what what we wanted to do for excursion (scuba diving, whaleshark snorkelling, etc.)

KenyaService or communication among staff seemed a bit lacking. We requested an airport pickup but none arrived, we requested twin beds but the hotel said they did not have the request, and we asked for late checkout and then were unceremoniously asked to leave so the maid could clean the room. The restaurant, while excellent, was not as accommodating as one would expect for a four star: dining hours were short, handling food allergies was limited, and many of the items on the menu were actually not available.
The food was excellent. The Malagasy chef must have been trained in Italy and the seafood was amazing. The location was wonderfully remote - no other hotels nearby, and at low tide I got in a nice 5 km on the beach. Don't miss the pizza- handmade and very tasty.
