Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We really enjoyed our stay at the Chateau Royal. Our apartment was amazing, specious and with breathtaking views of the beach. The location is brilliant. Many great restaurants around if you want to venture outside the hotel for a meal or coffee. The hotel restaurant had good food too, however, the lunch options were a bit limited. The breakfast was amazing but we preferred eating out. The hotel beach fabulous for a swim. Loved doing laps at the beach as it’s fully netted and the water is amazing. The swimming is nice too. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Overall, everything was fabulous. We will definitely go back.

AustraliaIt would have been nice to have a room with a view of the pool/garden rather than the back of the hotel next door (we were on the 2nd floor) so we could enjoy the balcony more. There wasn't anywhere to hang wet things to try except on balcony furniture or in the bathroom (it was too windy to use the balcony railing without any pegs).
The hotel pool and garden area are right next to the beach and a great spot to be at sunset. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.

AustraliaThe only big downfall was the wifi. Very hit and miss if you could connect to it. Worked better in the lobby, pool area and restaurant, next to impossible to connect in our room on the 5th level but we were there to relax so it was a good rest from IT.
Beautiful property with lovely gardens, great pool, bus stop out the front, access to a safe beach area with nets for sharks. The staff are really lovely and accommodated us with our noisy toddler very well. The restaurant was reasonably priced for the tourist area and the food was very good. Recommend adding breakfast daily as it’s much easier to eat at the hotel then explore the island. Rooms are well equipped with small kitchen so you can cook in if needed. We did with a small human some evenings.

AustraliaBreakfast was generally pretty good however it was also inconsistent in terms of what food was left/available each day. There was extremely limited gluten free options. We didn’t get to use the indoor spa pool as it was being renovated.
The rooms have been recently upgraded and were modern, spacious and clean. We had a lovely view looking out over the water. The location is great with the beach, great restaurants, a park and playground nearby. The pool was not super warm but was refreshing on a warm day.

AustraliaWe travelled in April so a only the main restaurant was open and not the other hotel bars which would have been nice to try. Not a complaint just a call out for travellers outside of peak times.
A great place to stay in Noumea. Sea views are fantastic and the pool right near the beach is a bonus. The semi private beach has a shark net and life guards so it is a pleasant spot to swim in the ocean. There are many restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk and if you are not a French speaker I would suggest trying to book as much as you can (in terms of activities and day trips) before you arrive as it is not so simple to organise on the ground. The staff at this hotel were fantastic and very helpful at all times. All in all this is a great hotel in a great location.

Australia- Tv in room only showed French tv shows or BBC news, no option to connect remotely or log in to Netflix etc - hotel restaurant was expensive (as were the local restaurants) - make sure to go to local supermarket; 1 was a 30 min walk away or you can get the bus to another.
- Beautiful hotel / services apartment with lovely pool area and access to the beach - large room and comfy bed - Staff were friendly - walking distance to restaurants / bus stop outside to local supermarket / other beaches - the spa was incredible- a must! - the beautiful sunset from the beach / pool area

AustraliaThere were no “embellishments”, such as information about the hotel and surrounds in the room, no concierge to help with tour bookings. Not a big deal though.
The location is great and the hotel has been refurbished and is very clean. The pool is also really good.

AustraliaCan’t really do much about it, but the hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It’s more like a resort. If you want to get around ask the hotel to book you some e-bikes. They are not cheap but it’s the best way to see the area.
This hotel is definitely the pick of the top of the line hotels. Right next to Le Meridien, it’s a little bit smaller and more intimate. The staff could not have been more helpful - they went above and beyond. The rooms were exceptional; great styling, near new and super clean.
