Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel rooms are filled with outdated drab furnishings. The shower area was very small and the shower hose needed replacing - the water temperature was not consistent. I was looking forward to using the swimming pool but this was not possible as children's swimming lessons were taking place when I chose to attend - it would have been nice to know about this in advance. The bar area felt more like a reception waiting room.
The location for us and the price were both very good - and we were really pleased to be able to bring our dog.

BelgiumHorrible receptionist, no communication about policy change, mediocre breakfast Fletcher hotel Erica in Berg en Dak is definitely not worthy of a 4-star rating: 1. We made a reservation for one room, including our dog. We got a written confirmation that our dog was welcome. Upon arrival however, the receptionist, an older man that hardly speaks English, told us in a rude way the dog was not allowed. When we showed him the written confirmation, he simply stated that there was a policy change after our reservation and that we were called about this one day before our arriva. We politely asked to speak to the manager, who could not be found, after which another employee had to fix the situation. The receptionist hardly gave us a look, acted as if we tried to smuggle our dog in, seemed to be bothered by non-dutch speaking people showing up at this desk (how dare those foreigners come to a hotel!) and never apologized for the miscommunication about the dog policy. 2. We sent an e-mail to bring the rude behavior and the shabby policy change communication to the attention of the management. They’re response was completely off-topic, not addressing messing up with the policy change, or the rude receptionist, but instead focusing on a minor detail in our e-mail. 3. Something we would normally not complain about, but also not four-star worthy; this hotel also serves mediocre breakfast. Dry baked eggs, watery juice, etc…
Nothing. This place is a joke

United KingdomThis is a tired hotel, wallpaper peeling, mould in corners, paint peeling off windows. No tea/coffee facilities. Very limited breakfast. Overpriced and definitely not a 4 star hotel. The pool changing area and sauna was filthy. It felt like they are charging the maximum price and giving back as little as possible. Very poor

SwedenRoom felt like it could use some modernization. Checking in took forever, even though we had booked in advance. I wish the reception staff had been better prepared to receive such a large group, having the keys ready at our arrival.
The room was large and comfortable, with a small balcony offering a very nice view of the outside. I left the window open with the curtains closed overnight to get some colder air in, but wasn't disturbed by either insects or traffic noise. It seems the hotel is in a very calm area. Parking outside was free. The bar and restaurant staff were very pleasant and fast.

PortugalStarting from the rooms: dirty, dated in furniture and bathroom facilities, we were a group so we stayed in different rooms with different sizes and configurations for the exact same price, no AC, no shower towels, very far from a 4 star standard in Europe. The staff: rude, unprepared, amateur dealing with simple questions regarding the internal procedures of the hotel, careless when asked for help or direction. The location: Berg en Dal, where the hotel is located is 1 hour walk distance from Nijmegen centrum, 20 min walk from a supermarket. The hotel location is served by one bus that takes you to the center and it can take between 5 to 30 min to show depending on the hour. Some additional comments: trying to enter the hotel after 11:00pm can be quite challenging. Some of us were denied entering the hotel for check in after arriving from hours of traveling. Some others were waiting for more than 30 min at the door consecutive days to have access to their rooms because no one would answer the door bell in what is supposed to be a 24h reception and after being previously advised that there were people arriving late. Breakfast price stated in reservation was EUR16,50 per person. We were charged different prices during our stay from EUR EUR15,50 to EUR18,50 with excuses that didn't quite make sense until we quit having breakfast at the hotel. Lastly, and the most hilarious, we were menaced (the word is exactly this) at the reception to be expelled from talking loud in our rooms based on false accusations of the hotel night shift staff. The same staff that should open the front door at the reception and wasn't there and when we were occupying an entire part of the hotel far from other clients and we couldn't hear each others rooms... If you're looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience this is definitely not the place to choose.

NetherlandsThis room normally costs a bit over 50 euros. Because of the Rammstein concert they charged 200 euros. The room is indeed worth 50 euros, very overpriced. A redecoration is way overdue.
