Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a lovely large room. It had a comfortable place to sit and relax. The bed was huge and perfect for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was really good, lots of options. The staff was very friendly and made you feel at home. We had dinner in their restaurant which was beautifully decorated. The dinner was a real gourmet treat with delicious food. The waiters were very friendly, efficient and professional.

AustraliaWith the great location also comes a lot of street noise especially on a Friday night until late. It's a risk you take.
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room and great breakfast. Good location in terms of proximity to city centre and tourist attractions.

The hotel is extremely well located in the heart of Maastricht old town and the hotel building itself has a lot of character. The room was well appointed, the breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and efficient. The hotel moreover adjoins a top quality restaurant.

United KingdomThere is precious little that should be done to make the experience even better. In 4 days I could not find out about the password for the Wi-fi. There is no information in the room about it, at least I could not find any. At check-in I expected the info in the room and I didn't ask. When I left for the evening, the reception was unmanned, so no chance to ask. Next morning when I left the hotel (early) the reception wasn't manned, no chance to ask again. Returned to the hotel late in the evening, no chance to ask again, the desk was unmanned. There is a phone number given for all eventualities. I texted to that number, requesting the WiFi password: no reply until check out. So I used 2.05 GB data, which would have cost me thousands of £££ had I not had a generous plan on my phone. Unfortunately I could not avoid using the internet as it was required for the business I was involved with. The following problem is not related to the hotel, but should be mentioned as it caused a major inconvenience: I needed a taxi for 7:30 am on Saturday, which I booked via the reception the evening before as I needed to be at the conference centre at 7:45 (10 mins drive). The taxi didn't turn up, resulting in a 25-min power walk in a suit and formal shoes: very uncomfortable, and making me embarrassingly late. Clearly, it is NOT the hotel's fault, but be aware of the possibility of this scenario. This was the third time in two years that taxis did not turn up in Maastricht at the pre-booked time. Please check, double check and triple check your arrangement for a taxi, as if the receptionist is not there at the reception, you won't even know what taxi number to ring and you will be guaranteed to be late.
This hotel is a lovely little place with equally lovely staff. They have practical arrangements with a nearby boutique hotel for breakfast one day of the week when the staff are being given a day off. The breakfast is very good in both hotels. The bed in my single room (Room 10) was extremely comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent, approximately 200 yards from the Basilica.

SwedenThere is some noise from the restaurant in the evenings, but nothing over the top, I could easily handle it.
Clean and spacious room in an old charming building, with a restaurant at the ground floor. The restaurant is great to have so close by, and the staff is helpful and attentive.

NetherlandsBreakfast was really basic "continental" breakfast. I expected more. Next time I'd stay there, I would eat out.
Perfect little room for one person. Had everything you need for a short stay. Bathroom included a bath, which I really enjoyed. Perhaps not so convenient when you're less mobile. Location is wonderful.

CyprusCozy, vintage, nostalgic, classy. Beautiful vintage furnishings. Retro with a hint of contemporary style. Small but very pretty and comfortable rooms. The most beautiful breakfast lounge, I’ve seen, with old wooden floors, antique furniture, a fireplace and beautiful vintage set up. Made me feel like I traveled back on time! Amazing breakfast freshly cooked/baked. Staff was polite, friendly and very helpful. Very nice location close to everything within walking distance.

IrelandThe shower over baths in the rooms we had weren't ideal for some of our group, a shower would have been more accessible.
The apartment was a nice surprise as we had booked a double room so was not expecting the extra facilities. The restaurant in the hotel (Petit Bonheur) is amazing!
