Shower head was extremely small. A minor issue in what is a super hotel.

Bright, modern interior. Helpful and friendly staff. Spacious room. Superb breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and plenty of choice.

not enough lighting in the room, shower stall is too small, and there is not enough vanity surface for toiletries. There are no electrical plugs on left side of bed, and the thresholds are ridiculously high in the hallway and too many of them to roll luggage over!

Excellent restaurant with a very nice outdoor garden terrace. Food was delicious and good value for money. Barista made a great flat white. Room was very large and comfortable. It was nice to have a sofa to sit on, as well as the bed.

Open breakfast by 07:30am on the weekends please - the 08:00am start time was a little tight for tourists catching their scheduled itinerary. Luckily, they offered takeaway boxes so we didn’t go hungry!

Hotel 1904 has become a firm favorite in our family. The building design is in freshly renovated Art Nouveau, absolutely gorgeous, and beautifully laid out so you always have a peaceful place to hang out. 1904 also had the BEST breakfast I’ve ever had in any hotel, ever! Plus the Norwegian mattresses were incredibly comfortable. 10 stars and highly recommended for anyone visiting Ålesund.

Breakfast was very good - quite an extensive selection and staff was very accommodating; when my husband asked for an egg sandwich on toast, they quickly made one special for him. Great service!

We got room with king size bed. All new furniture. Windows had blackout curtains. Bathroom with shower. Inside shower were boxed with shower gel and shampoo. Amazing breakfast, all you can think about, even fish.

This hotel was one of the best we had in Norway. We felt very welcomed and the hotel seemed to be very new. Thus it was super clean and modern. The breakfast in the morning was also super nice and the staff did a great job; they were very friendly and helpful. We would have definitely stayed longer if we could have!

Room was small- had to walk sideways on one side of the bed to avoid hitting the TV and low ceilings in lots of places. It was just big enough for 1 short person (who could lose a few kilos/ I'm 163/5'4")- hard to imagine 2 people with 2 suitcases in the room. Not great blackout curtains for summer light at night but this was typical of other places I stayed. They could be more helpful with guidance on the location to park when first arriving- please remember people probably don't know Alesund and have been traveling.

What a fun, cool yet comfortable and "cosmopolitan" hotel! I loved how they've renovated and blended " 1904" with modern. Fantastic location, perfectly quiet room, loved my view. Great breakfast and very helpful reception- thank you so much for your advice on my drive! It could have been a very stressful day without you. Friendly staff who seemed to really care. I would definitely recommend Hotel 1904 for a short stay.

We loved everything.

One of the prettiest hotels I've ever had the pleasure to stay in! We loved the unique designs of the entrance, lobby, dining area, lounges, and outdoor spaces. We enjoyed the large windows and high ceilings of our room, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! The location of the hotel was very convenient for walking around downtown Alesund. Overall, we had an excellent stay, and wished we could have spent more nights there.

The breakfast was phenomenal. Everything was fresh, the fruits were perfectly ripe, the pastries were crackling, the breads excellent, fresh orange juice from oranges.... top notch. One of the best breakfasts I have ever experienced in a hotel (including expensive work related meals). The owner clearly spent money on top quality renovations. The doors to the rooms block all sound, double (triple?) pane windows mean that even when someone makes considerable noise outside, you are not disturbed. Building kept its personality, you know you are someplace special.

We could have had a better view from our room.

The breakfast was very nice. We discovered that the food at 1904 was excellent and ate at the hotel restaurant several times. The interiør design and emphasis on design combined with comfort was fascinating.
