Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomChalets showing signs of age. Need for modernisation; simplification? Would be nice to have a range of artesanal beers / different varieties, including mini-bar.
Perfect location for snorkeling and relaxing. It never felt crowded. Coral reef is the best on the island and footsteps from your room. Breakfast was to a very high standard. Excellent croissants and jams. Friendly and helpful staff. I wish I could have stayed longer than two nights.

HungaryCompared to its classification and price, the half-hour check-in and queuing is quite ridiculous... The staff had to be told to at least get a clean glass during the queue, so that you can drink from the displayed water... The overpriced dinner is so unpalatable.
On one of Moorea's most beautiful beaches, in a wonderful park, extremely cozy bungalows with good snorkeling facilities!

United StatesThe pool was nice, but ok. the only other thing I did not love was the beach restaurant/bar - it had a limited menu and was open only for a few hours during the day.
Hotel was beautiful. We stayed in the land cottages overlooking the overwater bungalows. We could snorkel right off our rooms. The rooms were amazing - very large, and could easily sleep 3 - even though we had 3 rooms booked. The breakfast that was included was very good - especially one of their chefs who made daily omelettes and crepes for us, and also was very personable and would make jokes etc. Dinner was great at the restaurant as well and they had live music on most nights. It was not as large as the Hilton, which we visited during our stay, and felt more personable and cozy, and not crowded at all - except during peak breakfast hours. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The best part was that you could snorkel right off the beach or from your rooms and see fish.

United KingdomDinner options are limited at the resort itself. You can eat better outside of the resort and for a cheaper price in Maharepa, which you can get to by taxi or bike.
Our overwater bungalow was beautiful and a really romantic setting. Lots of beautiful fish on the reef and rays often visible. Yumi at the dive shop was really helpful and attentive. Good spread at breakfast. Would recommend hiring bikes for a day to get out and see the island. You can find hidden ears outside of the resort.

SwitzerlandReception area was a bottleneck where 10 or 15 minute waits were common before getting assistance. This is a French hotel, with French fusion cuisine and French mannerisms. For our private dinner that cost us 500 usd, we were hoping fir a vegetarian non fish main that didn't just consist of tofu as a replacement for the fish. Slightly awkward for a romantic couples massage for a same sex couple at a honeymoon destination resort but have to fill out separate forms where each of us had to fill out the female part of a his/her section on the form. These are slight issues that don't detract from overall great experience we had.
Overwater bungalow was spacious, hotel was in good location. We traveled across Raiatea, Moorea and Tahiti and saw other hotels with over water bungalows. Sofitel Kia Ora had the nicest ones, at a beautiful private lagoon. The buluffet dinner and breakfast are excellent. Lots of options for vegetarians. A lot of activities that you can book through the hotel and all staff were helpful and gracious, and responsive when we brought up issues. We got a fabulous massage as a couple at the spa. All guests also get free snorkel gear which we used a lot in the Lagoon. There's plenty to see on the island as well. We also had a private romantic dinner on the beach with classical French custom dinner the chef designed for us. Setting and decoration were stunning.
