Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Papua New GuineaKiddies treats such as ice creams / milkshakes was quite costly for an average Papua New Guinean. No bins provided around the resort's vicinity for guests to dispose their rubbish. Only one cup was provided in the room for the guest. I had to request for an additional cup for my child. This was provided upon request. No mini mart/ canteen for guests to purchase additional personal stuff such as toothpaste or crackers/ twisties for a quick snack.
Meals in the restaurant was great. Pizza menu's were affordable. Pool and gym facilities were good too. The room was very comfortable with a great view.

AustriaDue the current law and order situation as well as post COVID decline of tourism in this region, options of explorations are very limited and super expensive (not as advertised on the homepage)
We had a lovely stay in the Madang Resort! The garden around the hotel is very clean and you can walk around in the hole complex with a stunning view at the ocean and the little islands. The restaurant was very delicious and we really enjoyed the live music creating a relaxing athmosphere. The stuff was friendly and tried to help us organizing some tours. Due to the actual law and order situation in town everybody was understandable careful. They manage to set up a snorkeling tour. We went to an island and the reef there was so incredible beautiful, although very expensive! All in all we really recommend this hotel if you are in Madang, but hopefully they will offer more tour options and excursions, like they provided in former times (regarding to old prospects).

GermanyThe pizzas at the restaurant remain poorly seasoned as ever - they shouldn't be hot, but a bit more spices should be added!
Having stayed there a number of times within the last 20 years, the location remains as great as ever and it is truly the best in Madang, particularly in regard to ocean views - the premises are awesome. Compared to the last stays at the resort the staff has much improved, is friendly and very forthcoming, most likely due to the new managers! Thank you!

GermanySince the change of management last year, service has much deteriorated. Every 2 months we are spending a weekend, but it is getting worse. The breakfast was never great, it finishes at 9.am (way too early for holiday). When you arrive at 8.30, most of the small buffet is gone and the staff is reluctant to refill. We therefore bring our own food now and prepare breakfast in the room! The rooms have no complimentary water, coffee, sugar anymore. Front-desk-staff is not as friendly as before and the rooms are never ready, when you arrive at the check-in-time, you had agreed upon - we might go somewhere else in the future!
The location is just great as always!!

Papua New GuineaRestaurant was supposed to close at 10pm, I went in at 9:00 they wouldn’t serve me so I ordered pizza. I was told to stay in my room and wait for phone call when it’s ready. No calls came in cause the telephone wire was all broken and disconnected. So after waiting for a while I went down to the restaurant. I was so tired after 6 hours bus ride from Lae to Madang. Otherwise all is good 🙂

Papua New GuineaBit of problem with internet, lack of communication with online transaction and the Frontline office desk. Lack of Communication between staff and Guests. If things does not add regarding bookings or transaction, its better to advise in advance then at the time of departure to avoid inconveniences.

MalawiWe were checked into the room before the receptionist confirmed it was cleaned - we found the housekeeper cleaning the room. No porter. The tv in my room didnt work. The bed was not a double/king size. It was somehow two beds joined. The iron was faulty. The house keeper didnt clean the balcony for the entire time we were there.
The staff were helpful. Mainly the restaurant team. Somehow, it appears the hotel is understaffed, mainly in housekeeping
