This place does not feel like a hostel, it feels like an amazing villa with a bunch of friends. I got to meet so many new and nice people and felt at home straight away. The surf instructors were amazing, very patient, giving feedback for improvement and wanting you to enjoy yourself. Would definitely come back!

Everything! One of the best hostels I stayed at. The best part of Laneez House is the terrace looking into the ocean, unbeatable 💕 also the staff are incredible and the guests are very like minded people with a very chilled attitude.

All was really good

The view is amazing but also all the staff. Soecially Ligiana (the women who take care of cleaning and breakfast.) Location perfect for surfing going to town, super nice atmosphere if you travel alone, friends or with your partner!

The 6 people dorm is a bit small for 6, messy and not well lightened

I stayed one night in the double room and that was fabulous. Plus I liked the vibe of the place, the social events, the incredible terrace and view over the ocean. The surf lessons were also great! I will hopefully come back one day

Social distancing could have been better but tricky to do in a dorm room.

Miguel and his family are incredibly warm and welcoming. It’s more like staying at a friend’s house that a surf house. The living room was beautiful and the views were spectacular (you can sit drinking tea and watching people surfing below). Everywhere was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Bathroom very dirty and had to share with eleven people one toilet. Same goes with the bed, I found hair on the bed when I arrived

I recently visited Laneez for a weekend and it unfortunately turned into a complete nightmare when I discovered a bed bug infestation in the room I was placed in. Upon check in to the room I dropped my bags and raised initial concerns as I noticed a dead bug in the room and asked staff to check it. The staff assured me after checking the room that it was not a bed bug and that there were no issues. Not wanting to overreact or cause a scene I listened to them and stayed in that room and tried to enjoy my holiday. The next evening I returned back to the room and immediately went to sleep but encountered a distressing situation when I woke at 3am to find a pool of live bed bugs in the bed. It was an incredibly traumatic experience. I panicked and went downstairs to the common area in the middle of the night and relayed this information to who I later discovered was the owner who informed me that the room had a history of bed bugs for years and a recent incident. He provided me with his number and I moved from the hotel that morning when the sun came up. After returning home the next day, the nightmare continued as bed bug bites began appearing on my face, chest and back. I had been careful with my luggage however I immediately organized an inspection of my home to ensure I had not brought anything back with me. Unfortunately I was alerted that there may be bed bugs that had hitchhiked from Laneez and I was advised to go through an extensive and costly extermination process to avoid an infestation from developing in my apartment. I alerted the hotel and the owner to the matter along the way to ensure they dealt with the situation however they have refused to take responsibility for the matter denying that they have an issue. I strongly advise against staying at Laneez, as this has been a very distressing and costly experience that I do not wish on anyone.

There doesn't seem to be any staff (except for breakfast coordinator (who is a special woman) & cleaning team) on site which is strange given the moving parts of surf & yoga lessons, breakfast times, check-ins, and the general hostel environment. We would have liked a personal touch to assist with surfing recommendations, and feel there is a missed opportunity with a lack of hostel wide events or gatherings. We also were very surprised to learn that our bathrooms which was meant to be shared by only one other room, was actually shared with a third room, but was easily accessible to any (& used by) other guests - I suggest an external lock for this door.

The view and terraces are unmatched. Incredible place to enjoy the provided for breakfast (which is solid & plentiful), or an evening drink. The kitchen is big and has all one needs, and a large supermarket is a 8 minute walk. The vibey part of town is really close and very easy to get to. There were also other, like minded, travelers staying there, and speaking to other guests, it seems to be normal for great people to stay at Laneez. We also walked to Foz do Lizandro (beach) (+-30 minutes)

Not the best place to come as a solo traveler. Common areas not very inviting to meet new people. No staff available for activities. Many guests working or knew each other from previous years.

I was given no information when I got checked in about breakfast, checkout, rules, anything. There was no where to lock my bags and the entrance was not secure so I didn’t feel safe as a solo traveller. My room was an ugly basement room with no windows which was extra bad since some other rooms had beautiful sea views. The breakfast was the bare minimum, not very substantial for a day of surfing. This was one of the less friendly hostels I stayed at and I didn’t enjoy my stay sadly

That I can’t stay forever!

Laneez is beautiful and has the most incredible views of Ericeira. The staff are lovely and helpful, free breakfast is great and the rooms are nice and comfortable. I couldn’t have been happier with my stay, I’m already planning to go back! I surfed every day and met incredible people. Shout out to Patrick the surf instructor - he made the lessons so much fun and made me feel confident as a beginner. 11/10 overall!
