Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI think we were unlucky as we had very noisey people staying above us. And with the perfect view comes alot of road noise and emptying of bins at 5am each day, not a complaint from us but if you are a light sleeper it could be a issue.
Apartment was perfectly located with a beautiful view out the window. We could check in early, which was great and very easy. We had the option of daily cleaning which was always nice.

NetherlandsNot a big deal, but there were some noisy people in the bar next to the room. Be aware this is a touristic area, so expect some noise.
I stayed in the Mononoke Room and the view from the room was very special. The room was good and the small kitchen had everything we needed. The instructions were very accurate.

BrazilIf you have some trouble with noise during sleep, reconsider choosing this place. There is a garbage site beneath the window and the trucks come to get the trash around 5 am, with a lot of noise.
The location and view from the room is breathtaking :) The staff was really nice and helpful.

United Kingdom-
The location of the property is great. You are right in the center and can walk to all the major attractions in Porto. There are some steep&uneven stairs to get to the property door - but that was expected. The bed was small, but comfortable, however - it does get loud due to the proximity of the street.

PortugalProperty looks tired and in need of renovation. Showerhead was hanging loose (one screw had come out the wall). Apartment was superficially clean but all utensils and crockery were washed before we used them. We do this wherever we are regardless of how clean a place looks but in this instance there was definitely a need for it. No soundproofing, and although we had no noise issues from the bar on the corner (we were there midweek) you will have to be prepared to wake up whenever the people upstairs decide to get up and start moving around.
Great location. Great view, albeit out of a small window next to the sofa. Our host Rodrigo was very friendly and helpful, especially meeting us and helping us with our luggage.

United StatesAbout 60 very steep and uneven steps (this was mentioned in ad). Sparsely furnished. Small BR shower but functional.
View of river and close to night festivities and easy walk to Gaia over bridge. Near funicular for ride to top of Porto. Functional and clean. Quickly responded to emails and maintenance needs. Sewage smell from time to time but that’s everywhere in Porto. Bed comfortable. Air conditioning not efficient in bedrooms due to layout of floor plan unless door opened and then noisy from other room

South AfricaThe noise of the street at night made it difficult to sleep even with ear-plugs, however it's a sacrifice for the excellent view and location.
Awesome location right next to the Dom Luís bridge. Easy to step outside and explore the city. Beautiful view of the bridge from the room. Clean and neat amenities that met expectations. Our host met us personally, gave us a map of Ponta and an excellent run-down of activities to do in the city.

United KingdomSituated at the Bottom of Escadas dos Guindais (Stairs of a thousand heart attacks). But also next door to the Funicular rail if you don’t feel like giving your heart a workout😂 Position and accomodation is ideal for a single or couple travellers. Good clean and maintained everyday, I recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to be in the middle of it all! Overlooking the Douro Ten minutes over the bridge from N V Gaia with its river side restaurant’s and wine tastings. Fifteen minutes from the historic part (through the tunnel), and twenty five minutes walking to the shopping streets. Fifteen minute walk downhill from the train station Sao Bento. If you do want to give the heart a testing there’s a lovely restaurant three quarters of the way up the stairs overlooking the river, or outside the restaurant you can catch a door and charcoal pit cooking sardines with beers and wines as well. I’d give the stairs ago, just once (preferably going down). Enjoy the experience of living:
