“Can't comment really as we ended up leaving. The problem was we had problems checking in with the automated system and this took a very long time (over an hour) to resolve as no-one was there. This was despite us attempting to check in half an hour earlier than check-in time (2.30pm) while there were still staff in the restaurant to avoid this problem, as the hotel had actually phoned to say there was a problem with the check-in system and we had seen from booking reviews that this was a known issue with the hotel.
We live not too far away so for us the best option was to go home rather than wait around in the cold porch feeling annoyed! The hotel were good about processing the refund of our room very quickly given the circumstances. However, the hotel needs to take steps to be more flexible helping clients when their automated system does not work.”
