Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryI reserved a bed in a 4 female dormitory, 2 weeks before my trip the hostel messaged me that they changed the layout and my reservation is in a 10 bed female room. I was not given any compensation, rather than just offering a refund. Which I was not able to do because it would have been impossible to find something for not expensive. I felt the towels and duve was not clean enough, the duve smelled like an old person slept in it and sweat into it, I developed allergic symptoms and got pimples all over my face (I am sensitive to clean fabrics close to my face). Only the common area had a bit of warmness, the rooms were like 18 degrees, and mind you the duve covers are not thick, I was freezing during the night I needed to sleep in multiple layers to avoid catching a cold. Also, there were several old people, specifically man, staying in the hostel. I felt quite unsave/uncomfortable in the common area because of them. Lastly, some people should get a rain check, I stayed in hostels before but people were empathetic and considerate of other people, but not here. I was already falling asleep when 2 women arrived and started to speak loudly in the room (mind you everyone was sleeping), then a few hours later an another group arrived, they decided to wash their hair around 12-1am and dry it, everything was hearable because the bathroom walls are very thin.
The location was great, supermarket, coffee, restaurant, metro & bus stop are close by.

CroatiaThere were an other people in the room that apparently live there so the room was crowded with their things. They didn’t drink in the room, but the smell of alcohol was overwhelming. The bathroom was really dirty.
The beds were fine and it was nice to just come in with the code.

AustraliaI couldn't afford to stay away from Australia any longer.
I liked that the reception person at the desk was so kind and lovely. She was from Argentina, with long dark hair. However, she told me about the Stockholm cultural night. So, lucky I would have missed it. I booked longer. There is no way I could complain about the hostel. I have never stayed in one before. I met so many beautiful SWEDISH people. They were constantly incredibly helpful. Well, I am coming back to Sweden for sure. Fantastic country.

SwedenThis place is way shadier than the website or booking.com suggest. The only private room was supposed to have a shower, but it was a microscopic windowless cell with a tiny, stone tough bed that anyone taller than 158 cm would not even fit in. The shared bathroom was dirty because it apparently never occurred the other guests to take off their filthy shoes. It had the tiniest imaginable sink and even though a shower head was attached to the wall, there was no designated shower space unless you wanted to take your shower while seated on the very toilet, making the premises effectively showerless. It was also locked with a code that was only communicated through oral tradition (it was literally not written anywhere what the code to the bloody bathroom is). With its super sketchy guests (all without exception older and very shady men) this place really should not exist.
Even though the room was actually a cell, it was decent, private, and appeared clean

SwedenSince no couches or sitting elseway than the long bar chairs around tables. It's not their fault, there barely is space for couches... But there are bigger hostels, grad which is owned by same group has plenty of space and more tables (no couches there either though but thats for another review).
It's close to Odenplan and also centralen, it's cozy and compact so it's perfect for express compact short stay a night or two if you aren't planning on sitting indoors. So check weather and plan all day out and that place is VERY practical, but not really comfortable.

GermanyThis was my worst stay at a hostel ever. The both of us have experience with lots of hostels. There was lots of mold in the shower, so much that we rather didn't shower. the beds were uncomfortably soft, no window in the room, it wasn't permitted to use a hair dryer in the room sure to concerns for the electric wiring. There were two older men (permanent inhabitants?) preventing guests from accessing what we think was the shared cupboard. We didn't feel safe in the hostel common rooms and can't recommend it, especially not for women traveling solo. Wouldn't return even if the stay was free.
The location was central, public transport was easily reachable. The staff was friendly, but gone quickly.
