Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt did not affect me but the stairs to the loft where you sleep are steep. If you are disabled or not very agile, this hotel is probably not you. I think there are photos on their website of the stairs. There was another hotel on the same street if you want to stay in that area.
I stayed 3 nights Baan Luang Rajamaitri Historic Inn and enjoyed my visit! Beautiful old building on the river! LOTS of wood! Chanthaburi is pretty laid back and even more so when you hang out on the river and go for walks or enjoy a meal or coffee by the river. There are restaurants and coffee shops near the hotel. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Wifii was good and the breakfast was also good (3 to choose from) You eat outside near the river. Peaceful....The rooms were very clean and water was delivered daily. The bus station is close to the hotel. (Short taxi ride) If you want to chill and see a Thai town (not a lot of tourists), check out Chanthaburi.

United KingdomNoise and fumes from traffic on the narrow street. A bit of a shock to find we had to climb a ladder to go to bed!
Beautiful old house in lovely central position on the river.

ThailandHotel situated on a busy narrow road with motorbikes whizzing by. Hence traffic noisy and so were the passers-by . I didn't like climbing up a ladder to bed situated on a mezzanine level. Had to use the bathroom at night so had to clamber down the stairs each time
Charming hotel. Delicious breakfast. Wonderfully situated in the old town. Plenty of choice of restaurants. Loved the history of the building. The museum was very informative. The staff were charming and helpful

A wonderful place with a lot of flair. Beautifully restored, historic building right on the river with cozy rooms. We really liked the careful treatment of the old architecture, the authenticity and the atmosphere by the river. We were looked after very well in advance, transfers were booked for us and we were given a very warm welcome.

United KingdomBeautiful building in a historic part of the town. Spotlessly clean room, lovely staff and very comfy bed. (The steep stairs to the loft style bedroom were quite terrifying particularly at night so unsuitable for those with mobility issues.) Amazing breakfast!!!

SwitzerlandMy room above the reception was a bit noisy. Next time I would ask for a room in the back. The beds were futons on the ground, which didn't make them the most comfortable.
Great location in the heart of Chanthaburi in a beautiful historic inn. Cute room and nice breakfast on the terrace by the river. Staff recommended places and showed them on a map.

GermanyThe stairs to the bed are a bit challenging, and you could hear the noise from the restaurants opposite from the river and also from the neighbour rooms. A bit expensive, more than 50 Euro per night.
The location was very good, in the middle of the old town. Very good breakfast. Very nice staff.

ThailandKeep in mind that it's an old wooden building, so you should be careful with your footsteps and avoid making loud noise. The room is not soundproof, meaning you can easily hear your neighbours. I wouldn't recommend this for families.
Local vibes, great facilities, comfortable beds, friendly & helpful staff, very nice breakfast. Highly recommend the rooms with balcony by the river. Each room is unique, like you're staying in an art gallery. I'm very impressed by the concept and the history of this place. The renovation project of this building aims to preserve cultural legacy while also serving modern functions, and most interestingly, contributing to the community's wellness via their social enterprise. Great work!!!

AustriaThe Location is superb. Very nice and welcoming staff. Great breakfast. You can reach everything within town by foot or the bicycles you can rent for free. We stayed for four nights and would never regret staying that long as the town is an exceptional experience.

NetherlandsNothing we didn’t like, but it might be good to know that the room (at least our room) was pretty small - especially when traveling with a big suitcase - and a bit noisy; while just next to the breakfast area, I hope other guests were not disturbed by our morning rituals…
As the name says you’re staying in an old historic house, a beautiful wooden building, right at the river in the most atmospheric street of Chanthaburi. For the only 1 night we were in town we definitely wanted to have Baan Luang Rajamaitri as our base. And we absolutely loved this place! Fantastic room, super friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast. Chanthaburi is a surprisingly nice city, we wished we planned a night extra.

ThailandRoom is small. Bed is upstairs so you have to climb ladder to get to bed. Air conditioner which is high up was blowing directly to the bed. My room was on the road side and as the wall is wood, you could hear everything as if you were right on the street. Cars/motorbikes pass by all the time so it's really noisy. I didn't sleep well. I guess if you book bigger room and on the riverside, there wouldn't be any of these problems.
Great: Location/staff/breakfast. Staff very nice and kind. Breakfast is delicious. I love that they serve local food for breakfast. Location is unbeatable. It's a stone throw from everything.
