Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is very much a family friendly resort so if you are travelling without children you should bear this in mind. The quietness of the hotel and beach were spoilt a couple of times by very loud wedding parties in the neighbouring hotel The Avani, thumping music from 11am to 5pm which could be heard right at the other end of the beach a couple of kilometres away. If the resort as a whole wants to remain an oasis of peace I think this is something that needs to be addressed.
We chose Khao Lak because it is supposed to be quiet and unspoilt and we didn't want to be at a party resort. The hotel is in a lovely position right on the beach with spectacular sunsets. The pool is a great size and if you are there early in the morning you can sometimes be the only one there. We only had breakfast a few times but there was a good choice. The staff are wonderful in this hotel. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Another bonus was the great small beach shack type restaurants within easy reach of the hotel if you fancied eating out of the hotel

IsraelThe hotel restaurant is very expensive and food is only OK, nothing mind blowing. It really makes no sense eating there when 50 meters nearby there's a cheaper and better beach restaurant.
The beach is really accessible from the hotel. It's very beautiful and feels more untouched. Also has good facilities and free kayaks. Breakfast is really good too.

AustraliaPrices were a little bit dearer at the resort restaurant. We mostly ate and drank at nearby bars/restaurants along the water
The resort was amazing and had one of the nicest pools ever. Free SUP and kayaks were available. Would definitely stay there again and more than happy to recommend.

Austriacons have already been mentioned in other comments (prices in restaurant, but you don’t need to go there); coffee (very good one in any case hard to find); location (it is Kao Lhak, Party is in Phuket/Samoi, not here)
First of all - cost/value ratio is really perfect. Comparable hotels cost far more. Beautiful not too big Ressort, very friendly staff, super clean and pool and beach are gorgeous.

SingaporeA family-loving resort, which the little ones love. Thoughtful and super friendly staff. The whole compound is well-kept, with a lot put into the details. The landscaping was amazing - such a joy seeing a great variety of plants, which are thriving and beautifying the place at the same time. Love the architecture of the grand entrance building and the layout of the resort - which simply brings you all the way to the sea, if you will. There is a cool eatery right beside the resort on the beach, which serves super delicious food and drinks (Tom Yum Gung to pizza to fresh fruit smoothies) at reasonable prices. The pool was warm and welcoming. The beach had sand that was great for making sandcastles. Bobbing in the sea with a beautiful sunset was the most amazing experience. We're definitely coming back!

United Kingdomparticular person aloud to walk around all day…5 days on the run with an offensive slogan written on it. F@ck etc. why didn’t the staff do something. she had young children too. maybe she wasn’t an English speaker hence she didn’t know what the slogan meant. no inside bar or adults only space. great location for beach holiday. very quiet location.

MalaysiaThe kids club doesn't work for over 8 year olds, which was quite frustrating for us. No snorkels and masks or body boards to rent. The resort is spotless and comfortable, but a bit soul- and characterless. All slightly overpriced for what it is.
The rooms are spotless and of extremely high standard. Very good beds, pillows, fluffy slippers, etc. The beach is sensational. Brealfast is ok. Staff is very friendly.

United KingdomBeds a bit on the firm side but fine. Pool was too warm. Need to cool it a bit.
I really liked the abundance of beach chairs and natural shade from the trees. The staff were super everywhere (guys at the pool, restaurant staff, cleaning, reception etc.) and there were always fresh towels available (bad experiences at other resorts). The beach is amazing, good gym, and nice big rooms. If you walk south down the beach a little way there is a cute sort of village with restaurants.

ItalyStaying at this resort was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Unlike other properties I frequented in Thailand, here it is easy to understand that the owners invest a lot in the constant maintenance of rooms, gardens and equipment on the beach. So, no beach beds with ugly plastic coverings, signs of humidity and rust, bad smells, tired bed mattresses bristling with springs and so on. Everything is perfect and made having in mind good taste (the interior architecture of the villas, Cape Cod style, is bright), comfort (starting from the bed mattresses) and functionality. Another peculiarity, very rare, is that at Outrigger the management is present, visible, attentive, and not barricaded in some office. The staff is motivated, competent and kind, the barman is a good connoisseur of western cocktails. Excellent and rich breakfast. Lunch and dinner menu also includes non-Thai specialties and is translated into well-crafted dishes that can be enjoyed by candlelight on the beach. For families with small children (here numerous and not always polite) there is also a children's playroom with dedicated nannies and a large shallow pool.

NorwayA great hotel. As a resort, it is small enough to feel safe and special, but with all the facilities you hope from a place like this. Kids club, a great pool, a good restaurant- but with local alternatives around. We had a great stay here and would recommend it to other families.

CanadaDining other than breakfast needs improvement.
Breakfast was very good but otherwise the dining experience is mediocre. The food and general atmosphere and competence of dining room staff other than at breakfast is lacking. The pool and grounds are lovely and the improvements and general spruce up of the property was noticeable. The rooms are simple but comfortable.

SwitzerlandFor beimg a 5 star rated resort it did not fulfill our expectations on the breakfast buffet (example: limite variety of fresh fruits, ham& cheese ) also the one pool available where both kids and adoults have to find room is below what we have seen in other 5 star resorts. The massage , wellnes is limited to three outdoor hoods by the beach where all guests pass by going to the beach. 4 stars would be more suitable for this resort.
Staff is very competent and friendly, cleanliness and safety has high value and is top. We had a garden suit for 3 persons and it is spacious and well equiped. The beach is awsome and not crowded. The fitness is small but well equiped and clean, good opening hours ( 6am to 9 pm)

PolandBasic rooms with generic design. very uncomfortable bed and very very loud ac and fridge. Restaurant food is to avoid (taste and price don't go in pair there). Russians grabbing food and bread on breakfast with their bare hands. we needed to ask for soy milk for coffee every day at breakfast. people leaving towels on sunbeds for whole day. No grab service there - rent a motorbike. Yoga once a day at 8 am - to early. people smoking in the hotel, on the beach and breakfast! it's not 1990. should be forbidden.
Visually great entrance. Good breakfast but the fruits were not ripe enough and same every day. helpful and great staff, very clean.

SingaporeThe cold cuts and meats (bacon) in breakfast weren't the best. Worth improving is the spa, while some may enjoy it in the open with ocean sounds but it is next to the pool and there's far more that you hear. Doesn't have the relaxing feel. some may also want privacy. They should give options for indoor/outdoor.
New property, great rooms, great beach and wonderful service. Also a good place for families with kids as they arrange many activities for kids.

United Arab EmiratesThere were very few places to explore by foot- it’s secluded which is lovely but there is no shop available within walking distance and just 2 options outside the hotel for dinner.
The garden setting was so calm and beautiful with fewer rooms than most hotels which gave a serene feeling. The breakfast was incredible and we also really enjoyed eating at the main restaurant for lunches and dinners- the musician was particularly good. The beach was a wonderful place to relax with lovely sunset views. All staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. You can walk from the beach to two local restaurants which both offer delicious Thai food at really good prices.
