Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLights in the room were flickering. The air conditioning remote kept breaking. The room had so many mosquitos. Breakfast selection was quite minimal too. Whole room and bathroom had a slight damp smell
The room size was great. The staff were super nice and friendly. The upstairs pool had such a great view.

South AfricaIt's true that the hotel is dated and in particular has not been painted in years - a lot of peeling paint everywhere (outside our room door and in the dining room near the buffet was very noticeable). A lighter colour would really lift the hotel to look more modern . We had to ask for hand towels in the beginning but thereafter everything was fine. The bathroom basin tap over squirted the wide basin (it needed the filter changed). The kitchen had loads of empty cupboards - no bowls etc or utensils for self catering if one were to self cater. No knives to cut anything - not even to eat with. No spare toilet roll. A little attention to detail was lacking. The bathroom basins were not cleaned in our 4 day stay (toothpaste from day 1 still on the black bathroom counter, which we cleaned ourselves before leaving).
We really enjoyed our stay at Phi Phi Cliff. Our room was huge and the view from 5th Floor was amazing. Having read a few negative comments we were pleasantly surprised. We were aware that the walk from the pier was quite long but we enjoy walking and our luggage was collected from the pier as we notified the reception in advance about our arrival time. The breakfast was not as bad as described by others - in fact there was quite a variety of fruit, eggs, ham, rice and chicken and veg and some cakes or flapjacks. The staff were friendly. Overall, we had a fabulous time.

United Arab EmiratesWe chose to stay at this hotel for Christmas ,as I have previously been to Phi Phi many years ago and loved this hotel, now considering this is said to be a FOUR star hotel it was so far away from that..This hotel is so dated and needs a complete re makeover as you can see so many faults for example in the room there was marks all over the walls ,the shower had mould on it alongside this the light in the bathroom never worked, the sofa was torn, the floor had discoloured ,the list could go on and on , the fact that the hotel hasn't spent a single bit of money with the up keep is concerning and says alot about how much they care about their guests. If I saw the hotel before booking I definitely wouldn't have. On two of the nights we stayed the cleaning staff just barged into the room without a knock at the door or anything I found this invasive and disrespectful, however when speaking to the hotel manager about this concern ,in a polite manner ,her response to this seemed neither bothered or empathetic towards the situation. Overall I would say this place is not value for money and more of a 2 star than a 4.
The hotel was in a great location away from the noise right at the edge of the island, with stunning views of the harbour alongside up close views of the cliffs it was a beautiful view.

CanadaThe bed was as hard as a rock. The floor felt slightly sticky. And the AC didn’t get cold at all. Sometimes the room was warmer inside than outside. The room also had a left over cigarette smell.
The pool room was spacious, on a quiet relaxing side of the island, you can easily walk to the pier. Had a microwave, fridge and couch which was nice.

IsraelThe Wi-Fi is terrible! Had to navigate through many hotel networks to connect to (SSIDs) on each floor, with poor quality in all of them throughout the entire hotel! Only in one very specific area in the bed we could get reasonable reception. Some ants throughout the kitchen - although they disappeared after we sprayed them. The pool area was not cleaned during our entire stay! Cigarette packs were on the surroundings, as with fallen leaves. The shower head had some mold on it. It took some time for hot water to flow, and in general, the shower had low water pressure, which was bothersome. Breakfast was available for only two hours, which is a relatively short period. The location of the hotel, at the end of the beach, meant we had to walk ~15 minutes to the center of the village for all activities. We had to point the A/C remote control directly upward the unit to control it, otherwise, even at a slightly different angle, it didn't work. "Smart" TV had no way to connect to Netflix/YouTube or mirror-share our phones. The hotel's cafeteria was expensive (~120 Baht for a single fruit shake).
Very large and spacious room, with direct access to the hotel's pool. Good and tasty breakfast with modest options. The hotel offered comfortable beach flip-flops. The room was equipped with a light-control system, so we could manage the room's lights from our bed. Large shower and bathroom. The adjacent beach was effectively private, and it was an excellent place to snorkel and see many beautiful fish. The dining room was equipped with a water cooler, available to all guests throughout the day. The safe worked well.

United StatesThe room looked clean, but can see that cleaning was done quickly and with no attention to detail. No room service, the breakfast was so basic. No ice available at hotel. The hotel was a 15+ minute walk from the center of Tonsai Pier which is not bad to walk one or two times. However, since there are no bike or scooter rentals, you will regret all the walking eventually. The nearest convenience store closes early or you must walk all the way to the center of Tonsai Pier for something. There is no bar or restaurant at this hotel. The whole beach side has people arriving by boats for tours, not just this hotel. The first floor gets direct sun only in the morning and the rest of the day is in the shade.
The room appeared nice upon entrance, but you could clearly see there was lack of attention when it was cleaned. It is on the beach. The room had a kitchenette with dishes but no utensils. outside massage place close by. A/C was very strong. The hotel can arrange tours and exchange money. Key note: if you communicate with the hotel in time, (as with all hotels) there will be someone waiting at the pier to cart your suitcase to the hotel. If not, you'll be rolling it eventually through the sand as you approach the hotel. Must go to beach early because low tide comes in between 3pm to 8pm.

United KingdomDidn’t realise they have daily boat trips drop at the hotel, which is fine, not an issue but some might not like 40+ people appear for a couple of hours a day on the beach/outside bar and pool.
Went for the expensive room - great room, spacious, large and pool outside (wish you could walk onto the beach with ease). Third floor pool, perfect for relaxing and great views. Breakfast decent options and staff friendly. 5-10 min walk away from the pier, perfect imo, more silence.
