Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe meet and greet of the driver wasn't very helpful in searching for a request as we just wanted to stop by a fried chicken store before going to the airport.
I like the fact the resort is near the climbing area and they provide buggy service to recieve you or drop you off at the boat area. They also change your towel daily by the housekeeping

PortugalPeople are sleeping in caves and on the beach. It's probably the most basic hotel we have ever stayed in.
The location is nice, but the beach is not suitable for swimming, because of all the rocks. Also, it's remote and can only get here by boats. One thing you need to remember is that boat service stops around 5 or 6 PM. During low tide, it makes it very difficult for the boats to get in. The surroundings are pretty rundown. Many shops/restaurants have already closed down. When we were there, we saw mostly young hippies gathered at night for cannabis and alcohol. It's definitely not a place for family.

United KingdomGot really bad food poisoning from the resort restaurant. Air conditioning felt like it was poisoning us. Ants everywhere in room. Also have to get a boat to and from other bays if you want to do anything, and this revolves around the tide times.

Czech RepublicFree coffee served in the hotel. But that's a classic issue. Paid coffee was very good. On the payment - the hotel charges extra 5% when paid for the accommodation by credit card. The beach bar even charges 10%. So make sure you have enough cash with you.

SwitzerlandThe mattress was a little too hard for our liking. The sand on the beach is quite rough and rocky, so we had to buy water shoes in Ao Nang.
Quiet and beautiful bay only accessible by boat. Popular with climbers, but there were all kinds of people as well, including families. The beach was not crowded at all, compared to Railay Beach. There is a whole village kind of hidden in the jungle behind the resort. The hike to Railay Beach is very interesting. In the room we got a bunch of free snacks and water.

I don't have enough words to describe this place! awesome nature, great villas and perfect atmosphere. From Krabi airport take taxi to Ao Nang pier!!! From Ao Nang it is easy to find a boat to Tonsai Beach. You can walk to Railay beach through the forest in 8 minutes during the day. In evening or early morning because of tide you walk on the beach which is easier. Airport transfer is cheaper from Railay beach than Tonsai (400 per each).

United KingdomNot something I didn’t like, just something to be aware of: You need to arrange your arrival and departure by longtail boat carefully. Give yourself margin for error especially if leaving to the airport. To arrive, it is only a ten minute longtail boat ride from the main Ao Nang boat station. Just tell them you are going to Tonsai Bay. If you get dropped off on Railay Beach West for some reason, it is a 20 minute walk down the beach, over the peninsula trail, and then up Tonsai Beach to the resort. To leave, boats need 6 people to depart. You can let the resort staff know in advance and they help to put together a boat with enough people to leave at a specific time. Alternatively, you go to the boat station at the far end of Tonsai beach and wait there until enough people show up to depart - both locals and visitors need to go to Ao Nang every day. Getting there by 8am gives the best probability for a short wait (15-20 minutes). Most people are leaving by 10am. After that, you can pay for a whole boat (it seems to make sense if you are a group of 4+). If you want to increase your probability of certain departure outside the early morning period, it is best to walk over to Railay Beach West, where the main bulk of boats to Ao Nang depart. Boats need 8 people to leave, and this happens very quickly from 8am onwards all day until 6pm. Average waiting time is probably 10 minutes.
Maybe the best location in the Railay Peninsula, definitely the best in Tonsai Bay. The premises are well kept and nicely gardened, the staff are exceeding in friendliness and service. They communicate well and organize transport, the hotel restaurant has the best beachfront setting and the food, while marginally more expensive than the options hidden further back, is well presented and good after a day of climbing. Breakfast buffet is very good value, especially if you are a climber. The room at the main resort is excellent value. Contrary to reports, we had electricity all day almost every day in two separate one week stays in November. Amazing for a cooling afternoon nap when the conditions are too hot to climb anymore. We were warned that electricity would be down between 3-5pm, but I only noticed this 3 times in 14 days, so I think Tonsai Bay is running its own electricity generation. We received drinking water every day, the beds were made and room cleaned daily, and fresh towels were always available. Scented liquid soap and shampoo is provided. The room itself is simple, discrete and clean. The double mattress is firm and seemed quite new, and the sheets were smooth high grade cotton. The bathroom has an electric shower for hot water, a nice looking sink, new toilet and its own ventilation. I’ve stayed all over Railay and for the price, this set up is great value and very comfortable. Lastly, if you are a climber, at the doorstep of the resort is the Rock Shop whose owner writes the Thailand guide for rock climbing. He currently has the most comprehensive gear rental on the peninsular, and definitely the best local knowledge on routes which he is happy to share. There is a shop adjacent where you can buy large 6L bottles of water and do laundry. The popular climber’s bar under the Tonsai Roof is a short walk around the corner and thankfully out of ear shot, so sleeping at Tonsai Bay Resort was always deep and quiet.

New ZealandUnfortunately the shower was a shocker - we think it was built up with calcium, so random sprays came our everywhere back mostly on the back wall, it was hard to use. The mini mart where you can get washing done is randomly managed; so trying to catch the young guy there was a mission. On collections he tried to over me 250 tb as opposed to 160 - very odd chap. Also note that the property runs on a generator so power is switched off over two parts of the day, so it pays to plan around these times.
With 90% of the rooms being renovated you can see the potential of the property. Our duplex bungalow was spacious with lots of bench and storage space. The bed was comfortable and the linen good. We had beach and room towels and they gave us extra pillows promptly on request.

United KingdomThe bathrooms really need attention. It is not very clean. It’s too expensive for an outdated resort. I changed room to get a better bathroom but it was still not clean and grubby. There are better options on Tonsai for half the price. Breakfast is very disappointing too.

Resort was well kept rooms and grounds. Stunning location with a rock face nx to the Bar. It's peaceful and relaxed atmosphere makes it the only place I'd stay in Krabi..the hotel food was good and the cocktail bar right on the beach made this an exceptional choice. Our villa was cleaned everyday and the AC was working well.. We had breakfast with the room which was simple eggs and toast. Quaint village behind the resort for cheap food, a few local bars, climbing schools and thai massage. 20m walk to Railay if you prefer more action. It's a gem of a place 100% recommended.
