The room was very tired in need of decorating. The room was lacking a bedside lamp so I had to walk back to the bed in the dark after turning the light off. I asked for a kettle which they provided but the cleaners took the cup. Guests are only provided with one bottle of water on their arrival but have to pay after that.

I initially booked "the budget" room. We paid more money for a better room the next night, as : •we were unable to use the bathroom as it smelled like someone had died in there. •we had to keep the windows open because of the smell, even though the bathroom door was firmly closed. •the room was below the level of the road, so exhaust fumes kept coming into the room, especially when a car was left idling in the street for a few minutes. •because we had to keep the windows open, the room was very cold. •there was another toilet and sink outside the room that we were able to use.

The second room that we changed to was on the first floor and had none of the issues of the first room, although the duvet was too small for two beds pushed together. The staff were helpful and kind . There was a breakfast.

After some busy days walking around the city, I was hoping to have a meal in the rooftop restaurant, but it didn't seem to open in the evening.

The location was great and within five minutes you are alongside Sultan Ahmet Mosque ('Blue Mosque') although the first couple of minutes are uphill. The staff were friendly and the room was cleaned every day with new towels etc. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food coupled with a view of the sea and harbour from the rooftop restaurant. Anyone wanting a 7 o'clock wake-up call need not worry - there's a large Mosque across the road which ensures an early start every day. The rooftop restaurant didn't seem to be open in the evening, but if you go down the slopes two blocks there's a whole row of restaurants to choose from. Front desk staff were happy to give tourist information and a range of boat trips and other events.

Breakfast not great. My room was small with fixtures and fittings hanging off the walls. The headboard was also broken.

The accoustic of room is poor. First night there was a super loud sound coming from an air conditioning (back area) like an airplane turbine.

Super clean rooms and friendly staff willing to make you enjoy your stay. Complimentary water everyday in the room was also a plus.

My room was on the 2nd floor right above the hotel entrance and it was extremely noisy - loud call to prayer from mosque 100 feet away, constantly barking neighbourhood dogs and people talking outside till the early hours. The breakfast buffet food was of poor quality. The rooftop bar is good but expensive. Hotel is small, as are the rooms.

Good location next to all the top tourist spots. The room was very clean and towels etc were replaced every day. The staff were very helpful. It was excellent value.

There wasn’t any cattle for tea or coffee and fridges was literally broken. I wasn’t able to use it for the beverages. Despite prior notification, there was no gluten free bread and the choice of GF items for someone like me was quite limited in the breakfast.

The staffs were very friendly and helpful like many other Turkish people and hospitality. I was with my daughter on a short break. They gave me a cake as a surprise for my birthday, they saw my birthdate on my passport ( requirement for tourist registration). The room is quite small but very clean, breakfast on roof terrace, location is good, near to most tourist attractions.

Me and my son had a one day stop over in Istanbul beginning of June. starting from booking far in advance and guiding forward until arrival to Dara Old City hotel we felt great support and guidance from the Personnel of the hotel and personally Orhan bey! this is very precious and important, especially when you are tired of travelling between the cities.

we got a room without a window so you couldnt tell if it is day or night. there was a small window in the bathroom but you looked at the wall so it was very dissapointing. the bed was really small. we got some girls for our neigjbours and the walls are so thin you can hear everything so we didnt sleep much.

the staff was really nice, they arranged us a taxi to the airport, asked about our day every time we came back, offer us some trips, welcomed us to the breakfast, very nice.
