Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe thought there was a roof bar, it had just turned into a restaurant, which was very cool, but we would have preferred something a bit more casual for a drink.
Great vibe and location near the Bosphorus, with many quirky bars and restaurants nearby. Loved the rock star decor throughout, all the furniture and artworks were very cool! The staff were friendly and helpful.

RussiaNothing in particular.
Very nice rooms with stylish grungy design, perfect location — near Galataport (shopping) and a very cozy restaurant street nearby. 15 minutes to Istiklal is also nice (be ready to climb uphill though). Decent breakfast in a hotel, plus you may use nearby bigger hotel’s facilities. A great experience overall.

Saudi ArabiaShower drain took forever to dispose of the water which lead to water flow leakages.
The hotel is a vibe! Great location, minutes away by walking to the famous Galata Tower and Galata port. The breakfast area had great views overlooking the Bosphorus. The staff where friendly and helpful.

LebanonWe couldn't sleep during our stay, the hotel is on a noisy street with a lot of noise from the cars and the petrol station nearby, and there is a mosque opposite the street with very loud calls for prayers at 5 am . The AC cannot be controlled as it is a central system to multiple rooms, so you need to open the window for fresh air and you will not be able to sleep from the noise either!! The light was so dim, and there was no wardrobe.
The location is very near to public transportation, 1 min to tram and 8 min to the ferry on foot. It is near nice streets full of pubs, cafes and restaurants. The coffee machine and free daily water in the room are a plus. The breakfast was good, but we had the same thing over the 7 days we stayed there. The hot water pressure was great, and the beds were clean.

United StatesThe breakfast is not in the building itself, but in a sister hotel a few meters away. This is not a terrible thing by any means, but the last time I was there, I really liked the breakfast and the vibe of the space (on the premises) it was served. I asked for help with ordering a taxi to the airport and was quoted a price higher than it should have been. Not much, really, just 200 lira higher, but knowing the actual cost involved, it felt unnecessary.
I’d stayed at Sub Karakoy before so no surprises (positive or negative), but the price was very favorable this time of year (winter), so even without anything spectacular about it, it was an ok stay.

CanadaI wish they had kaymuk during breakfast but otherwise nothing is lacking you have a full spread.
Staff were very helpful and friendly! It was a short stay but they were very informative and helped us settle in quickly. Location is right in Karakoy, close to great restaurants and sites such as Galata Port. You do not have to go far for anything at any hour.

NetherlandsThe quality considering the price and other options available was a bit disappointing. It has a bit of a hostel+ feel (which is ok if that is why you’re looking for but not 4 stars) and the beds and pillows are not comfy.

United KingdomThe room was a bit dark and had an ugly view of the back of a building opposite however this meant that, unlike the rooms facing the street, it was not noisy with the window open.
The location is very central and convenient. Superb breakfast, served on the rooftop penthouse of a different and more luxurious hotel nearby, with a spectacular view over the city. All the staff, especially Furkan, were extremely attentive and helpful. The industrial-chic style of the hotel may not be to everyone's taste, but I liked it.

AustraliaThe elevator was tiny! However, I thing that is common in Turkey and we were lucky to even have had one :)
We were immediately greeted, they looked after our suitcases and offered us coffee and tea. The hotel has a funky vibe, all clean and comfortable. The breakfast is at the rooftop next door, and it was fabulous with lots of Turkish options. All of that in a prime location.
