HVAC unit in room was noisy. TV remote operation was unusual. Hot water could be a bit hotter.

The room was clean with a refrigerator and a microwave. It wasn’t as updated as other hotels but the staff was super friendly and the room was clean. A big plus for me.

Alger Falls was just what we needed for our overnight in Munising. Check in was quick and we’re able to park in front of our door. Easy in and out. Great accessible location. We enjoyed the Picture Rocks boat tour and hotel staff gave us a great breakfast tip. Coffee in the rooms was nice. It’s an older property but had everything we needed.

Furniture and carpet were well worn and dated as was the bathroom facilities. Toilet sounded like a freight train when you flushed it. Bathroom mirror had black spots on it that I kept mistaking for bugs or spiders. Location is right on a noisy and busy highway.

The room itself was disappointing. Unfortunately, there was an overbearing odor of mildew in the first room we had as well as a strong urine smell. I believe- just my guess-perhaps from years of usage with no bathroom upgrade. There was also hair on the shower curtain and in the tub. So…kudos to the staff…we said something and we’re switched to a different room which seemed to have been upgraded in the bathroom, toilet clogged, was fixed immediately, again attentive staff. Room still smelled musty, but it was nice enough to have windows open so that mitigated that issue quite a bit. The air conditioner/fan/heater window unit also had musty smell even after having been left on in our absence all day, so off it went, no help there. I’d try somewhere else next time.

The hotel was located close to the town and attractions we wanted to visit, so we were pleased with our choice in that regards. The staff was friendly and addressed the concerns we had, although not to the outcome we ultimately would have liked which was to be able to cancel our last two nights due to the excessive noise from construction IMMEDIATELY outside of hotel causing severe migraine issues. Staff said Booking.com wouldn’t allow refund. Drip coffee in the morning offered in the “lobby” in addition to room Kuerig was a nice touch. The bed itself was comfortable, pillows were cheaper, but still seemed clean.
