Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe building is old. The insides of the apartment were old. They are not falling apart, but they are visibly beat-up, scratched, not everything works. The kitchen was old and not entirely pleasant; the cleaning crew no doubt tried hard, but there are some things you just can't get out from an old space. Don't get me wrong -- the place was cleaned professionally. It just did not have the feel of a place that was renovated. There are no elevators, and there are many stairs throughout, even for first-floor apartments or just to get to the entrance. We did not care, but if you have mobility issues, that might be a problem. But hey, for the price this place is great! The size of the apartment plus the location outweigh the rest of the issues for us.
The location is excellent. Just 2.5 short blocks from the ocean, a block from the start of the promenade, next to all the excitement of Santa Monica. It gets a bit loud in the evenings from the nearby promenade, but that's what you get for staying at the heart of town. It's north of Wilshire; this part of Santa Monica is generally safer and cleaner. Our one-bedroom apartment was big by LA standards, and the building's courtyard was decent with an inviting pool and table/chairs. It's a great place for youngish crowd, ideal for college students and such. The internet was fast. The hotel has quiet-hours rules, which were followed (and we appreciated that). They have a person at the entry at all times, so if you have a problem, there is someone to talk to. They also have large storage facility and were very nice about storing our luggage.

Location was great. We went for a wedding near by but it happened to be walking distance to the beach and pier. The room it self was great. It was big and spacious.

United StatesOur bath/shower was faulty, they knew it was faulty prior to check in. Someone was coming in to fix it, however they somehow totally broke it. We were offered a new suite however it was too much effort to move but they were very understanding about us just accessing the bathroom of the other suite. The laundry is also out of service and there aren’t any close by, you need to drive 10mins away. There also isn’t anything in the suite to clean up your mess. Some surface spray would be handy in there. This may sound all negative but we had a great stay just think it’s important to be transparent about these things.

ArgentinaWe paid over 350 a day thru booking and the room cost quoted at the reception was 188 plus tax. ouch! Maybe there were some empty rooms at a discounted price?
We had the room with the balcony facing California street. The location is fabulous. The place although a bit dated, which we already knew, is spotless and everything works well. The parking space under the building is very convenient.

French PolynesiaThe hotel should asked if we accept not to change the towels everyday so we could contribute to the reduction of water and detergent used (and they would save money...). The personn at the desk on the morning could at least say hello.
The emplacement is great closed to the Santa Monica seafront. The rooms are bright, clean and confortable. It is nice and wealthier to have a wood parquet instead of carpet. Free parking for the car. The personn at the desk on the evening was nice.

United StatesShower drain was a little bit clogged (couldn’t keep up with the strong shower). Parking is paid per night, I think $20. But it’s covered and they said there’s more spots than number of rooms or something so no fighting for parking.
Big living room and has a kitchen too. Very comfortable for a family of 4. Everything was clean (maybe a little too clean because the floor was very waxy/slippery! Can’t complain though XD ). Great location. Front desk was friendly. It’s an old/outdated building but everything worked, was clean, so it was better than we expected.

IrelandThe windows do not block any noise from the street, it is as loud with them open as it is closed. No sound proofing between rooms either The coffee machine was Tassimo and I think Keurig is far easier to buy capsules for (the hotel did offer some Tassimo pods though) Some reception staff can at times seem rude. (Other times they're fine) The younger guy is great and should be promoted. The laundry was broken while I was there and was not fixed for multiple weeks.

The property is excellent for kids as I could be in my room and look at the pool in the courtyard. The single bedroom allowed adult privacy while the kids could romp around in the living room! Beautiful windows and kitchen access
