Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing really.
Room was tight for two people, but we made it work - well-designed space. Breakfast was very good and a good value. We had stayed in the New York City Citizen M and so knew what to expect. Staff was super courteous and professional all around. Gym on 9th floor was really nice with a breathtaking patio and lobby and eating area are very inviting.

New ZealandLocation didn’t have a whole lot around it - but the metro was located close by and really easy to use. The amazing staff were happy to help out with how to use it as well.
Everything was amazing! The bar, lobby and rooms were perfect - clean, tidy and very modern. The staff were super friendly especially the young male security. The bed was massive and really comfortable. We loved the iPad with the room controlling everything. The place has everything you need for an individual or couple staying for a holiday (or work) that are spending most of their time exploring. They had maximised the small space and included everything you need. Very good coffee too from the bar downstairs! We would 100% stay again and recommend to our friends.

United StatesThe pillows were very uncomfortable - too big and too firm. Did manage to get less firm pillows, however still a bit uncomfortable as they were also oversized. Everything was controlled by an iPad including the television and thermostat. Lights would randomly go out, at least once or twice a day - both day and night, plunging the room into darkness.
Main floor is spectacular. Very nice gym. Lovely staff. Very Good food - especially the fresh carrot cake!! Comfortable room for 1 person. Felt very safe considering where it is located downtown.

PolandDowntown LA does not seem very safe with lots of homeless people and drug addicts around. It’s not really Citizen’s fault though.
The location is excellent and everything about the hotel was perfect! Comfy, clean room with excellent room service, the nicest, very helpful staff.

AustraliaThe bathroom being a tiny closet but also in that same comment, great shower head and really great use of space for the small room
The bed was a bit hard and pillows too. Good shower, loved the iPad control and easy access to Netflix and lighting and room and blind options. That actually made the room a 10/10 to be honest

United KingdomLocation was good for the metro and a nice food market but it wasn’t what we expected for Downtown! Thought it’d be busy and full of life but it wasn’t. We ventured out of that area every day for food and activities. Hotel was perfect other than that!

The friendly ambience, the location, the level of room comfort. Very hip, and a little too much so. Wht is wrong with a shower that has taps marked HOT COLD on or off?

United KingdomThe check in process was noticeably slower than most other hotels I have stayed at, due to it being very technology-focussed. Most aspects of the check in were done on a self-service machine where you put in your details, scan your passport and create a keycard. While this was unusual, I feel it may not be user-friendly to those who are less experienced with touch-screen and technology on a whole, such as elderly people. Breakfast was reasonably good but I feel some of the items could have been nicer such as the bacon and scrambled egg. Breakfast costs an additional $20 a day.
I really liked how the room had a very modern and also futuristic feel. The colours were nice and being able to change the colours of the light in the shower was amazing. The blinds, curtains, air conditioning and lights could all be operated from a bedside I-pad, which was very convenient and useful. Space was also used smartly in the room, e.g by having draws under the bed, meaning that there was no need for a chest of drawers. The lobby was also very spacious and plenty of colours were used, which created a nice atmosphere. There were loads of chairs, armchairs and sofas, which made it seem more welcoming and comfortable. Staff were also reasonably friendly and attentive.

United StatesI didn’t like that the refrigerator was so tiny and it did not get cold at all! & i really didn’t like there wasn’t any parking available at the hotel and it cost $38 a day to park in the parking structure next door to the hotel.
The vibes of the room was so unique! Its a small room but yet so comfy and I loved the function of lights, blinds and tv controls all from the ipad in the room ! The shower was so unique and cute!

United KingdomBedroom was extremely small, there wasn’t really anywhere to put a large suitcase. One side of the bed was up against the wall. So you had to clamber over your partner to get out of bed if you were on the inside.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and accommodating. The reception area was a great place to sit and relax with a beer at the end of a day of sightseeing. The downtown sights were easily walkable and there was plenty of public transport to take you further afield.
