Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThere were a few issues that detracted from my stay. First, I had read previous reviews that mentioned the barbecue wasn't working, so I emailed the host in advance to inquire about its status. I was assured it was in working condition, so I bought meat to grill before arriving. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the barbecue was not working. However, the host did cooperate and helped me find a workaround, which required me to go to one of the adjacent dwellings and wheel over their barbecue since they weren't using it that night. Unfortunately, this grill wasn't very good either. Second, there were ants in the kitchen, and the floor was dirty, so I had to sweep it because my infant wanted to crawl around. Thirdly, we certainly would have appreciated if there was a TV, because we wanted to watch a movie after dinner. Another alternative would be to provide board games for the guests. Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable experience, but the issues I encountered could have been easily resolved by the host.
During my recent visit to the Flying Point Homestead just outside Joshua Tree, I was enchanted by the quaint and comfortable house, which exuded an intriguing and quirky charm. The cozy beds, invigorating warm shower, well-equipped kitchen, and reliable Wi-Fi all contributed to a pleasant stay. Laundry was nice since it was very windy during our stay and our clothes got dusty. The presence of bullet holes (!) in the old, abandoned cars and boats (!!) scattered around the property added a touch of mystery to the surroundings. The remote location, with its cool western vibe and hauntingly beautiful hills in the distance, along with the sight of rolling tumbleweed and the long sandy drive on backroads, made the decision to opt for a 4x4 rental worthwhile. Despite the remote feel, essential amenities and grocery stores were just a 20-30 minute drive away, which added to the convenience. Furthermore, the host was highly responsive, which enhanced our overall experience, making it truly unique and enjoyable.

United StatesThe main house is located in the dirt but is easy to get following the manager’s instruction. The room feels cozy and homely. Every detail is user friendly. The kitchen utensils are complete. We enjoyed homemade dinner and breakfast. The furniture is nostalgic with details driving us to the past time. The service is great with text messages reminding the checkin and checkout. Our family had a memorable Thanksgiving stay at the property. Highly recommend!

PolandNothing, we loved everything about this place.
This was one of the best places we have ever stayed at. House is well equipped, it has everything that you could possibly need. Joshua Tree National Park is about 20 minutes away, Walmart and fast food places are about 30 minutes away. We recommend stargazing, if you are lucky you will hear a coyote :)

AustraliaNothing really. Fully want I expected from the online picture.
Remoteness (not for everyone), end of the line feel. Overlooks the mountains with town lights on the low horizon. Quiet, peaceful. Good place to work. A rustic cabin feel with nice artifacts but extremely functional. A shortish drive to Joshua Tree NP. A good place to sit out the heat of the day before exploring late afternoon. Short section of unsealed section of road but this was not a problem, at least this time of year (summer). Host very attentive and available. Will book again if I return.

We loved the fresh eggs. The location worked well for us, easy access to Joshua Tree Park. It was quiet and private and kitchen was well stocked. Patricia was very friendly and communicated well with us when we had questions. It was great that we could bring our dog. We spent the majority of our time outside - ate outside, played board games at night outside, two of us slept outside.
