Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe furniture was a bit run down, there seemed to be a lot of transients, lots of individuals smoking outside the facility and, cigarette butts all over the ground, lots of noise above me and on the wall where my bed sat, and it made it difficult to sleep. Curtains falling apart and had rips, I had to bobby pin them closed because of the lights outside to sleep.

United StatesI wasn’t expecting the high volume of loud children all over the property (the lobby, the parking lot, etc). The pool was small and I didn’t realize it was a kids pool (only 4ft deep). I was given a handicap room, even though I’m not handicapped but i didn’t feel like moving after i realized this. The floor was sticky in the room and had an odd smell.

United StatesWe got two pet friendly rooms for two nights. My room was very run down, with rips in the upholstery, stains on the bathtub and lots of old pet odor. My room also seemed to be the only one with blinds instead of black out curtains. One of the blinds was missing, so I ended up looking out at the (very busy) swimming pool area all night with people outside also able to see into my room. Very meager breakfast spread was laughably small for the number of rooms and guests, and ran out quickly after opening. If this had been a Motel 6 or a cheaper chain hotel, I would have been OK with all of this, but the room (including a $25 a night pet fee) ended up being considerably more expensive than I would have expected given the condition. OK, but not a particularly good value, even with the Booking.com discount.
Great shower -- lots of pressure and easy-to-operate hot water. Also plenty of towels. Room was spacious and bed was acceptably comfortable. Fridge worked. Friendly staff.

United StatesThey charged me more than was quoted for a dog fee. One hall smelled like fish, the next hall smelled like BO. People actually live there. There were dips in the flooring, I almost twisted my ankle when I walked down the hall the first time. The counters were stained with nail polish. I walked barefoot in the room and my feet were black! There were hairs in the tub when we first checked in. So I didn’t allow my children to sit in the tub. The “breakfast” consisted of coffee and granola bars and muffins.
The room was big and had a nice layout. The staff was friendly.

United StatesNot much you can do here but our neighbor's dog on the third floor barked around 2am to 3am ish constantly the last night of our stay, which was a bit annoying. Not sure where the owners were at the time but that's just luck of the draw when you book a hotel that allows pets.
Staff was awesome. Super helpful and polite. Thank you!! Room was spacious though shower water pressure wasn't the best but bearable. Additional kitchen ware helped if we needed to make some quick breakfast.

One of the wall lights on one side of the bed was out. Wifi was spotty and kept coming in and out. There were only a few outlets in the entire room, that actually worked.
