Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

United StatesI think the hotel was in the middle of a renovation. There was a Hilltop Express Inn banner covering the old Howard Johnson sign out front and there was a HJ branded trash can and ice bucket in our room. Room numbers were hand written and taped to the outside of all the doors. Our room did not have any lamp shades and our desk was held up by a nightstand on one side because the legs were broken. These weren't big issues for us, but I'm putting it in this section so people know what to expect of the room.
The hotel was in a convenient location and the staff members were friendly. I don't think there were any other guests staying at the hotel, there were no cars in the parking lot and we didn't see anyone else besides the staff both days we were there. Bed was comfortable.

United StatesWater didn't drain well in shower Coffee packets were so bad we poured it out and went to Dunkin D. Part of the ceiling was falling apart in the shower area. The door was difficult to unlock. I'm not trying to be critical but people need to know this is a work in progress.
Nice people at reception. This hotel has perhaps recently been bought and is in the process of renovations. We needed a safe, reasonably priced room and this fit the bill. But, they have a long way to go. They had a blow dryer and nice absorbent towels, thank you!

United StatesUpon checking in the staff member took a copy of my license. When I asked why he took a copy he told me in case he was questioned by the police. I have never had that experience when checking into a hotel. After a back and forth conversation he gave me the copy back. The website stated breakfast. There was no breakfast not even coffee. Lastly, there was no manager on site to contact when the people above our room were screaming at 3:30 a.m.

There was no breakfast available. The building is undergoing a change in management(ownership), the new owners are trying to improve the inn. Our first night we had no tv, and the man working was very rude. There was no housekeeping, but the 3 person staff was working on improvements.

United StatesBed linens smelled like smoke and we were in a non-smoking room. Front door latch plate was loose and door had to be slammed to shut and lock properly. They didn’t provide clean towels or remake bed during our stay. It wasn’t terrible but not worth the $120/night we paid.
