I bit loud, because our room was close to the road. Waves were loud too, but I liked that. Room was a bit warm, although they had a good ceiling and standing fan.

Small parking lot, which was able to accommodate us every night we stayed, so not even really worth mentioning. We LOVED that we could communicate with the owners through text only, and never had to face to face with anyone- so if you are someone who wants to schmooze with the owners, this is maybe not the place for you, but we loved this aspect of our stay!

Where do I start? I could not have anticipated how much I would love kona tiki hotel. I almost don't want to review this hotel because I want it to stay my little secret spot. Waking up in the morning to the sound and sight of the ocean is so lovely. The balcony is like your own little private surf watching spot. The pool is your own private sunset spot. These are important points because certain spots in Kona get very crowded, and it is SO NICE to just have your own little slice of uncrowded heaven. Of the three places we stayed in Big Island, this had the most comfortable bed, provided complimentary drip coffee to be made in the room (surprising the other places didn't!), and complimentary beach things (snorkle goggles, boogie board, books, UNO cards, etc). The staff were so polite and quick with towel exchange. The room was clean and the hotel location was walking distance to the main strip, so if you dont want to drive there (and pay for parking!) you can just take a leisurely 10-15min walk over to the shops and restaurants.

Nice quant enjoyable. On ocean so waves were noisy if u r sensitive to noise for sleeping. I slept great.

This was a perfect location! Loved watching the waves hit the shore! Close to everything we needed- dive shop, grocery store, restaurants. The room wea a perfect set up for an active vacation- With microwave, refrigerator and plenty of space in the room and balcony. Also have ice machine and water fill available 24/7 on site! Staff is friendly and helpful. Wished we had more time to stay here.

Parking was fine, but it was a bit tricky (for me) with an SUV since it's not a large parking lot.

The room was incredible, as ours faced out to the ocean. They have a balcony where we could comfortably and relaxingly watch surfers and the vibrant fish swimming right next to the property. They provided snorkels and beach towels. No A/C in the unit, but there was a ceiling fan, and they also provided a pedestal fan. Not having A/C wasn't an issue for us at all, as we slept with the sliding doors (there were screen doors as well) open, and it was awesome getting the ocean breeze and listening the waves at night.

No counter space in bathroom. Could use a measuring cup or two. Had to guess when making pancakes on their skillet. No freezer area in the refrigerator. But all doable for us in the short time.

Can see the sunset every evening. Bed was comfortable. Could walk to shops and restaurants if needed.

Because of high surf, the noise from the waves crashing was quite intense. The room was close the street and is noisy with locals racing down the Ali'i drive. We had to close all the windows in order to sleep which was stuffy at times without A/C. The Kona Tiki Hotel is run more like a condo since we had housekeeping only once during our 6 night stay. While there is a kitchenette in the room, the equipment is substandard: no wine glasses but big plastic tumblers. There is not a single towel rack in the bathroom. there is not a chest of drawers or closet to keep your stuff. It is scattered in the room or on coat hangers. Toilet paper is of the single ply type you find in public restrooms. These details while small made our stay feel expensive and did not meet our expectations. I would have preferred a condo with more space/furnishing for about the same price.

The location is great, close to Kailua's center. However we ended up taking the car each time to save 15 min walk. The Honl's beach near by is very convenient but the high surf during our stay made swimming impossible. The lanai is very pleasant for watching local surfers and offers a beautiful view of the cove in front of hotel. Beach gear was available
