Main pool was cloudy with debris in it. Tiles around the water line were broken and the grout was black with mold/algae

room frig was a "wine" frig so it only cooled to about 60 degrees, room heater had not been switched to a/c (it can only do one or the other), light switches and functions were hidden, tv was not set up to use, be prepared for low wifi, bocce ball court was missing pieces, Starbucks doesn't open until 8:30 and pastries arrive later than that, required handyman 3x and we're not idiots!

The rooms are large, nicely furnished, and well maintained, and spread out across beautifully landscaped grounds. Extra bonus: half-dozen EV charging stations in hotel parking (very welcome, since next nearest charging station is 80 miles away!).

Every morning we woke up to a big dead or dying cockroach on the floor of our room. I have stayed here many times and never experienced that. We had an issue with the air conditioner but when we reported it they sent someone right away to fix it.

I love the big room by the pool.

The property itself is charming, well maintained and unique. Our Garden Room was comfortable, clean, had a nice patio and was separate from other buildings but it was close to the main pool, fire pit, patio and cafe.

Spending time with family in the caseata, dining and game area was great. the morning sunrise was beautiful in the desert. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will be back again.

The room was beautiful, but the mattress needed replacing. Restaurant was fair.

Wait Staff at dinner in the hotel restaurant was impatient, argumentative, and immature. She definitely needs hospitality training!!! After we were seated, the first words out of her mouth were, “I’m really busy tonight. You’ll have to wait!”

Front Desk was pleasant, helpful with suggestions, supplied map, efficient.

The staff at the restaurant were not accommodating. We could not get our bar tab sent or transferred to the restaurant when our table was ready. It was 4 steps away. And, could not sit where we wanted when we made reservations days in advance. We were given the choice of only 2 tables, one small one behind a post and another by a door on a chilly night. The hostess was telling phone callers that they were fully booked when the restaurant was not even half full? No one came later? All the better wines are by the bottle. Robes and maid service are only available by request.

Loved our room, very spacious, super clean and all remodeled. The desk did text, to make sure everything was okay, but texts back didn't work when we needed something. Going to the desk or calling direct did work.

The price seemed exorbitant, especially since my credit card was charged for "incidentals" which we did not use. They say we'll get a refund, but it seems that it would be more practical to charge for incidentals if or when they occur.

Room: had the two bedroom casita. One large bedroom had somewhat dim lighting (as in living room). Bath in other large bedroom very small, but adequate with bathtub/shower combo. Water pressure and tempeature good but variable both in shower and sink. They really do need to install instant water heat. Informed they're in transition at moment to upgrade substantially. Possibly short on help, i.e., pool cold. Service requested but lost an afternoon waiting. No housekeeping service requested or povided. Several other improvements wanting but can't wait for the change. Such a remarkable place!

The grounds are immaculate, the office personnel and service staff exceedingly helpful. Many ammenities to enjoy. Call for specific details. Sycamore casita had mini fridge, wet bar, small microwave, 4 place table, good storage, generous coffee pods. We brought table cloth, dishes, detergent, and all items useful for certain meals. Note: no stove. Paper and glass cups provided, plus small glasses both above wet bar and also in bath. Nice to be able to open window louvers at dawn to see the changing colors of the sky.

There were no housekeeping services so we had to ask for extra items during our second night of the stay. Water pressure in the shower was a little too much!

The property was beautiful and had great amenities for kids. We loved the croquet and tennis courts. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Location was great for exploring Anza Borrego state park.
