How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. the problem was the noise, especially during night, due to the big fans (I guess of air conditioning) placed on the back of the hotel, and rthe fact that the only view of my room was that.
location is excellent, my room was very large and with a kitchenette.

There was only one small mirror in the bathroom. Adding a full length mirror/another mirror in the living space or bedroom would be helpful!
Fantastic location! Close to the subway, a grocery store and a Starbucks. Beautiful room - it was spacious, updated, clean and comfortable.

It could do with an upgrade to the decor. Looked a bit tired. Air conditioner was loud and not as efficient as it could have been - perhaps a service and deep cleaning would help.
We had the two bed room and it was really spacious. Two bedrooms, kitchen area and a lounge. It also had a very large balcony but was wasted as l wasn’t clean and had sparse / uncomfortable furniture. This could be an incredible property as you get such great space, unrivalled in Manhattan, but is just a bit run down. It however totally suited our needs and we would consider staying again, for the space.

The kitchen was very poorly equipped we had 1 fork, 2 spoons, 1 spatula and one sauce pan. I had to call and request a frying pan. I knew the kitchen would be small that was alright but, please make sure it is well equipped.
The room was spacious and we loved the terrace.

The kitchen is hardly equipped (clearly tourists are not used to cook during their trip to NYC but few pots and pans could be added)

Could do with another elevator - but let’s not argue with beautiful 1930s architectural design too much!
The location can’t be beaten but the rooms and the staff make it special

The air-condition system is really old. it made a lot of noise up to a point that disturbed my sleep. The one in the sitting room was non-existent and in the second room, the last days flowing not cold air. There were times we were sweating in the apartment. Also as many already wrote, the equipment in the kitchen was very very basic. I had to ask for some things that were delivered to me the following day. Finally another issue I had, was the blinds in the main bedroom that did not block the sun and woke up because of the light early in the morning.
The location is really good, very close to the heart of Manhattan. The size of the apartment is unbelievable. There were 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a small cuisine.

The fridge was a bit small and door did not close completely all the time. No venting in one washroom and kitchen.
The room was spacious and large for Manhattan. the property is located on a quiet stretch on 56th street with a loading zone (great for Uber pick up). Staff were excellent (Ken was great)!

No restaurant at the hotel.
Location was amazing and the one bedroom apartment was such a nice surprise! Loved the closet space and the size of the suite was incredible and very nicely appointed!

Apartment in need of updating and compared to photos was very well worn. Generally needs updating and decorating. Air conditioning did not work properly and had to be turned off at night due to the noise it made.
Location excellent. Staff in hotel excellent as well as daily cleaning of apartment.
