Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo mirror in bedroom; poor lighting, no reading lamp over bed; no grab bar in shower which should be standard in all rooms not just disabled. Bathroom door poorly designed…almost crushed my partner who was using closet when I exited bathroom! Hallways much too cold for guests in shorts or bathing suits.
Resort, pools and beach excellent. Restaurant okay, good coffee

United StatesThe kitchen does a very nice job, but the portions on some meals are much too large, unless the diner is a glutton.
Great location on the Kohala Coast. Very short walk to other restaurants, grocery/market, and other shops.

United StatesVery expensive for what you get. Everything cost extra, like sitting in canopy by the beach or pool. Staff came and told me it cost extra to sit in canopy even though it wasn’t occupied. I was kind of embarrassed. Food was very expensive even though they bought me instant mash potatoes from powder.

United KingdomNot nearly enough sun umbrellas around the pool. We hardly ever were successful in getting an umbrella and we did not think it was fair to reserve beds early as others did. Parking charges and resort fees are extortionate.

United StatesThe not quite as advertised "oceanfront" room.
The staff was amazing. They allowed us to keep our room a few extra hours beyond check out because we were waiting for a spa appointment. Hotel lobby and areas for sitting and enjoying the sunset or eat breakfast or sip a drink were wonderful. The bathroom was great. The only minor negative was an "oceanfront" room that was a far distance from the oceanfront and more inner courtyard then pool and then the beach in the distance view. Slightly false advertising. Otherwise perfect.

United StatesThe hotel itself is nice but we were disappointed by the facility given the price we payed. The hotel has a restaurant but the food quality is very poor. People were allowed to eat in the pool and we found this disgusting. Also, it was a constant battle to find space at the pool as people are leaving their towels early in the morning and then leave. With people leaving their left over food, a lots of birds are then attracted in the lobby and we found the lobby dirty with birds' poop... Most of the staff was not very friendly, we stay in 5 different hotels over 2 weeks of vacation on the Hawai'i islands and we never experienced so low welcoming. Again given the price you pay it was very disappointing. Last but not least we did the Luau of the hotel and we were extremely disappointed by the whole experience, way over priced... At the end, I felt that I payed a high quality experience that I did not experienced.
The Waikoloa Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa was a nice hotel with a great location with a direct access to the ʻAnaehoʻomalu Beach where you can do some great snorkeling and even see green sea turtles. The room was spacious and clean. I would say that if you want to stay on this coast and part of the island the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa is a good option but you need to lower your expectations.

United StatesThe room design was clever, but the bed shared a wall with the bathroom which wasn't fantastic.
Easy beach access, well appointed pool, and convenient onsite restaurant. There is also plenty of food options within walking distance if you want to explore a bit. The concierge was a great stop - she gave us several hike options and recs within the area.
