There were no drinking glasses in the room and had to ask staff for them. TV did not work.

Outside security door propped wide open all night. Poor lighting on north outside stairs. Only ice machine in the facility was out-of-order TV was difficult to operate even with instructions provided. Temperature was hard to regulate, either too warm or too cold, and no additional blanket provided if you chose to leave the A/C on.

Less expensive than staying in nearby Steamboat Springs but still over-priced.

Dorm-style rooms, ours had a view of the mountain. the diner was cute. The bar next door was super friendly, The liquor store a short walk away was a real hoot, also super friendly. Our understanding is the that hotel and diner must stay open because of a contract with the railroad to house their workers. We used this as a base for day hikes that were unbelievably beautiful.

There was absolutely no breakfast - nothing, not even an employee. The diner would not serve food to us, but they were open 24/7. The served the railroad employees, but no one else. I asked if it was because of Covid and they said NO! I would have gone to another town had I known this. We had to go to a gas station to get a cup of coffee and junk for our two 80 year parents. False Advertising and very very disappointing! No housekeeping. A lady came and brought towels, thankfully and said “I don’t know who is working this weekend, because I’m not”. They would block the side doors open so any critter or stranger could Come into the building - didn’t make me feel too secure .

Was told I could check in @ 4. When we got there at 530 to check in were told room was not ready due to housekeeping issues and room would be ready in 20 minutes and we we're given our key card. Waited in parking lot until 6. Opened door to room and someone was in the room cleaning it. Was told they were almost done, we drove to a town 15 minutes away to eat. When we got back there was pet fur on floors and furniture, floors were not attempted to be cleaned and bathroom still had someone elses wet towels. Last year we had a reservation, we checked in (paid and got key card) and then went into town about 30 min. away when we got back our room was given to a "priority customer" who was a railroad worker. There is one employee for the hotel who also is the waiter, cook and server of their "restaurant". This hotel is housing for railroad workers. While it is THE ONLY hotel in this town, next trip we'll travel the extra 30 minutes for a clean reliable room.

When we arrived at after 6 pm to check in the registration agent said they had a housekeeping problem and the room was just being cleaned. When we got to the room no housekeeping staff was in sight and it had not been cleaned, with bedding tossed everywhere and it was a total mess. They could not tell me how long it would take for the room to be cleaned and I asked to cancel the room as we obviously couldn’t stay there. The hotel manager canceled the room and assured me I would not be charged. Now, 2 days later and far away from that location, I see they did charge me the full amount of $182.95 for a room that was uninhabitable. I really hope that booking.com will help me fight this charge as it is totally unfair.

Way too expensive for a very basic hotel….we had trouble with the locked main door - repeatedly, as well as the lock on the door to our room. There is no Kleenex, no coffee maker, no cups, and the tv channels were incredibly limited.
