Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BulgariaAll rooms are located above one of the loudest bars in Santa Monica. Be prepared to feel the bass every night until 2-3 am. There is nothing you can do except for using ear plugs. Even through earplugs, the music was hearing loud. Not recommended for families. I saw a cockroach in the room. The communication with the host was OK but not as smooth as I would have expected. Requests at least couple of days in advance your room code if do not want to wait before the door to receive it.
The location was very convenient. It is a 2 minute walk to Santa Monica Pier, restaurants, shops and bars.

United StatesWe booked through booking.com and were given a phone number to contact about checking in and for parking. Hours before we were supposed to check in, I called the number to schedule a check in time but it went straight to voicemail. The person we were in contact with was unwilling to take a call and would only text. When we arrived to the property and had trouble finding the parking, he still was unwilling to take a call and insisted on only texting which was frustrating. After we had already settled in and were in our room, another couple suddenly walks into our room using the door code. We come to find out that they had put us in the wrong room and we were supposed to be in another room. It was unsettling knowing that the other couple had the door code to our room and had just walked in. The host did end up changing the door code for us afterwards.
We loved the location, it was walking distance to Third Street Promenade and the pier. A bunch of food spots around too!

Location. Big tick, lots of bars and restaurants around. And walking distance to the pier. It Is loud till 11pm in the week and a little later on the weekend, didn’t bother us because we like to go out. Could be abit noisy if you prefer to stay in.

United StatesVery noisy area late at night, which made it difficult to sleep. It was warm and I had to open the windows for a cool breeze. The absence of a lift was also inconvenient, as I had to carry my 60 lbs luggage up the stairs to the 3rd floor.
Easy to find, good location opposite Santa Monica Pier, clean facilities, many restaurant options nearby

United KingdomThe downstair front door was permanently open creating a security risk. The door code was wrong so I phoned the manager Gustavo, he came over and gave me the code to our room (202) and explained the parking situation which was not at all clear from the website You get a voucher - which you have to pay $27.00 for - to park over the road somewhere, luckily Gustavo was there to show my husband where it was, but other people we met were not so fortunate and had to spend $50.00 per night to park elsewhere. Room 202 is directly above the Whaler bar which has loud thumping music all day and night until 2am. The place was old and shabby, the bathroom was particularly unpleasant. Just enough coffee and stuff for two cups and the cooker did not work.

United StatesLoud music and people on the street until early morning. Very uncomfortable mattresses. Bathroom showed a lot of wear, including chipped and stained tub, holes in wall where towel bar used to be, no towel bar, worn spots on the toilet seat and unless we fixed it, the toilet ran all the time. There was a variety of conditioners, but the shampoo was strawberry fragranced. All 3 window curtain rods were crooked, although consistently crooked... and each rod had different finials. Also, each curtain panel was a different color and not in a good way. The smoke alarm was obviously missing. There was an electrical outlate with burn marks and no cover plate. Nothing would stay plugged into the outlet next to bed.
While our room was above a bar with loud booming club music and loud people on the street until the wee hours of the morning, it was very centrally located and closed to many attractions, including the Pier, restaurantsand the 3rd Street Promenade. Although we only used the fridge, the kitchenette was spacious and nice. Reasonably stocked with kichenwares. The room was clean. The sheets were clean and fresh, and the pillows were good. The room was very spacious and had nice "wood" floors instead of gross carpet. The 3 large windows provided lots of light. The shower had decent pressure, and the water was hot. The shower doors were very nice modern frameless glass hinged doors.

United StatesThis place is above a bar and read it could be a little noisy, but figured I was going on weekdays so it wouldn't be an issue. The music started around 4pm and ended at like 11ish. It seemed a little loud but not horrible. But what was more annoying and distracting was the door to the place continually slamming closed every time. Maybe can do something to gix the issue.
The location was awesome across street from Santa Monica Pier.
