Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe hotel was renovating, however this didn't impact us. It's slightly dated but the position and room size more than makes up for this.
Enormous and quiet room with spectacular views and huge balcony.

UruguayUnbeatable location if you are exploring the beaches South of Kona. Most of the manta ray night snorkeling tours start just 100 yards away. Big swimming pools with a fantastic slide kids will love. We had incredible sunset views. The staff was amazing.

AustraliaSeemed sometimes too few staff about, pool bar wasn't doing pool service as not enough staff, in the evening there were kids still going into the pools out of hours and didn't seem to be anyone doing the rounds to stop them. Kids in the adult pool etc. Building itself a little dated in places
Staff were friendly, nice place, great pool, grounds were all very nice

AustraliaThe rooms are dated, and the hotel is undergoing a renovation so maybe check on timeline for completion and if you’ll get an unrefurbished or refurbished room. The hot water was challenging, and took ages to warm up and stay warm.
Service from front desk (Karen to note), poolside and all outlets was excellent. Location right in the waterfront. The hotel is around a 30min drive from the airport, and a short drive from the main village. Size of the rooms are very spacious. The ground were gorgeous, well maintained. We had a Club upgrade, and while only open from breakfast and evening canapés these were pretty good and the staff were brilliant.

United StatesI really wish that I could give this facility the best rating but I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars due to the bathrooms needing to be updated. I want to give the Outrigger all the credit in the world because I could tell that there was major construction and renovation going on at the resort and it was clear they were investing in the facility. The room we had was good but the shower and bathtub was just not up to par. I expect an expensive hotel to have a fancy shower head with high water pressure and hot water all the time. Everything else about the room was fine but I’m really docking a whole star because the shower was very outdated with a rinky dink shower head that wasn’t even above my head.
My fiancé and I stayed at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay and had a great experience. We loved the location of the hotel and all the amenities and scenic views it had to offer. We stayed on the bayside and honestly I thought that our view was way better than the ocean view because the bay was always so nice to look at and interesting with activity and the mountain in the background was a view I had not seen before. The grounds of the hotel are fun to explore and take in the ocean views. You can see the sunrise from the hotel easily and there are multiple manta ray boat tours at night that are only yards from where you are watching from the hotel. My fiancé and I were lucky enough to see two huge manta rays clearly visible in the ocean that is illuminated from strong lights on the hotel. The water all around is so blue and tropical even at night. The hotel is close to the highway for getting around and short drive from the Kona village. The pool areas were very nice and there was a waterslide in the daytime. We had dinner and listened to some live music in the Wailele Café and I thought the food was pretty good. The music was fantastic but the meal got kind of spoiled when the bugs started to make their way inside the restaurant. There are little mongoose and wild goats roaming the area which we found super amusing and cute stray cats that are friendly (I asked and they feed the cats). There is also an on-site market that sells liquor. There is also a couple bars at most hours. We attended the Feast & Fire luau and it was a great show. The fire spinner was fantastic and deserves a raise. Self parking was only 10 dollars a day which is cheap comparatively.

United StatesWould be nice to have an elevator in the Ekuhai wing. Some sauces used on foods could be better. Resort fee could be lower.
We liked location, service, amenities, staff, convenience, cleanliness, views. The check-in and use of wrist bands is a clever, efficient way to allow access to the amenities.

CanadaWe were informed at check in of the renovation beginning. One of the pools was closed, as well as the pool bar and spa and the restaurant. (The cafe is still open and we were able to order the pool bar items in there and take with us-but for a surcharge). This information was not on the website so we were disappointed. That being said the staff was lovely and we were treated well including a late checkout to offset our late night flight home. Would also be nice to have parking included with the rate.
We are familiar with the property as we have stayed a few other times. We returned because of the location, amenities and natural beauty. The pool areas are outstanding, although the furniture and umbrellas require an update. It was a plus to have the stand up paddle board daily as well as snorkel equipment available for rent right on site. The manta rays are a once in a lifetime experience so to see them nightly cannot be beat. We find it a peaceful and spacious property. Lots to do right where you are. Rooms require updating but were well appointed and beds were comfy. appreciate the built in shower clothesline and outdoor furniture. Friendly staff!

United StatesNot much frankly except for one thing. That one weird thing was they said they didn't have rooms available for early check-in but if we paid them a fee of $100, they could get us a room. How does that work? You either have rooms available or you don't.

United StatesAnother on-property restaurant would be nice. We recognize that staff is stretched but would like another option.
Staff was terrific. Michael at check-in, Bruce at pool & towels, Marie at the restaurant. Michael worked with us after our booking at another place fell through. Bruce suggested a manta ray night snorkel that exceeded our expectations. (Eka Canoe Adventures) Marie was great when we ate at the restaurant counter or did take-away. We understand that the store is independent but the clerk (Delvin?) was good and a very hard worker.

CanadaThe restaurant was quite pricey. Beds were very comfortable but the bathroom could use an update. Low toilets, very little places to hang towels and the smallest shower head I have ever seen.

HE’S A TOP MAN! 10/10 service from him, we’d come back just because of him & one Valet guy!!! forgot to get his name :( but he always had high energy, always had a smile on his face and always greeted us every time we passed by. He was working when we checked out and took our luggage for storage. One gentleman who was a pool cleaner, and the garden service guys were also very lovely. Some of the best workers there! Love that there’s two seperate pools for adults. Our view was amazing :)
