The staff at the restaurant on the lobby were not very welcoming and friendly sadly, so we decided to have one drink and find another dinner venue

We really enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is lovely with large rooms and a nice balcony. The location is perfect for exploring! Car parking is easy and the room was very comfortable. The 'pub' they have was great with lovely staff.

HEAVILY dog friendly.

Breakfast is fine but servings are large. Location is ideal for visiting Monterey, many sites are close and walkable. Helpful staff, very prompt service. Hotel renovation is very good.

The hotel was immaculate and felt very luxury. Lots of great facilities, great shops, cafes and restaurants in the hotel and nearby. Our room was very really comfortable and had everything you needed, very light and spacious.

Bathroom shower got the floor all wet with the partial open shower door

Some of the areas were slightly outdated and the door by our room didn’t work so the carpet was soggy but all in all it was a great hotel

For the high room price, it was disappointing to have no room service for my 3-day stay. A sign in the room states rooms are only cleaned between guests for the environment and water conservation. I agree there's no need to clean and change of towels every day, but it doesn't cost the earth to replenish tea/coffee provision and make the bed. The air-conditioning unit in the room was loud.

Large hotel with nice decor, attached to conference centre - where I was attending a conference. The room is large and well furnished. My flight arrived early in the day, and it was nice to be allowed early check-in (my room happened to be free). Close to tourist wharf, harbour and aquarium.

Room facilities were a bit old and worn down, decoration of floors was significantly older than lobby, queen beds were actually smaller than standard queens.

Location was central, lobby was stunning, staff were very friendly, spa services were awesome.

Our room was very close to the highway traffic so all day and night all we heard was honking and speeding cars. Also our patio looked out on the pool and hot tub and on the last day kids were in the pool shouting at 7 am.

The beds, room and hot tub were all very nice. Loved being so close to the restaurants and also close to the water.

We only had a drink at night, which arrived late and underwhelming.

The hotel is well located in Monterey, very close to the fisherman's wharf. The room we stayed was spacious and very clean. Lots of plugs and charging points too. The breakfast was good with large portions. The lobby was well decorated for Christmas and NYE. Would definitely stay again.

Frankly nothing!

The rooms were very quiet, comfortable, with a very elegant decoration. They were equipped with wifi, usb outlets, tv, coffee makers, etc. everything you will find in high end hotels, but at a reasonable price given the location. You are close to all that Monterey offers. The emplyees were polite and helped us with all our needs. There is a bar and a restaurant on site, where we could order to take out. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance of Fisherman’s wharf, the marina, downtown shops and retaurants, and Cannery Row. The Aquarium is far away, but the walk is pleasant. The hotel has a parking facility, a bit expensive ($22/24h), but convenient and protected. After looking at the other hotels nearby, we cose the Portola for its better value and we were more than satisfied.

Had to call twice to get the room cleaned. Even though we called, it wasn't cleaned until the of the day

The shower had very low water pressure and was difficult to regulate, temperature-wise. The water was so hot coming out of the tap, I burned my hand.

Location very convenient, right in the middle of downtown. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Short staffed everywhere. Restaurant wait was constant but staff was friendly still. Rooms showing age. Wifi is below 56k. The streaming to their TV plain doesn’t work. Will bring own projector next time. Rooms need a microwave.

Great location and property. Friendly staff and very clean. Parking is excellent benefit.
