How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

lack of room service for food/beverages
Exceptional and friendly staff made us feel very welcome, location was fantastic and the room was spacious and comfortable.

Outstanding location one block away from Union Square. Very nice and comfortable room. Parking was in a separate building but next door to the hotel, and the extra price was worth it because parking is nearly impossible on the street

The restaurant close too early. The breakfast buffet is huge… but not as good as the riu ! But you have 2 starbucks in the road, perfect !
Everything !!!! Place ! Place ! Place ! Better price for room of 4 ! The vue from our room on the bay and coit tower… and the professionnal staff always a kind word and always available !

Very disappointed about the destination fee. This was an additional $30 cost per day which was mandatory but could be used to offset the cost of drinks, food and some tours. It wasn't at all clear from the Booking.com website that this was payable. It was also unclear from the explanation at hotel reception that this was an additional charge regardless of whether we chose to offset this against food or drinks. Essentially this was an additional $270 we hadn't accounted for (over 9 nights).
The location was good, the hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the room and views from it were very good. Amenities were good including a reasonably equipped gym.

Stayed in a Junior Suite with 5 people which was adequate space but the pull out bed mattress needs to be updated as it was like sleeping on springs.
View from room of the city was great. The safety of the hotel is very good and is close to transportation to take in all the sights of San Francisco.

A minor thing, the cleaning staff was stingy with restocking the room with towels / shower gel.
The room was more spacious that I thought. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was convenient. The hotel also offered additional credit to be used daily and other perks for staying such ass cable car rides.

Room was super comfortable and clean. Had everything I needed (except a bottle opener). Wifi excellent. View from window no complaints. Only thing to make it a little better would be to have a stocked mini bar rather than an empty fridge.

They blocked on my card much more than I spent for the room and after 10 days I came back from my travel the card is still blocked with evident difficulties since I cannot use my card, this is simply unacceptable!
Very good position, comfortable room, great having 2hrs free bikes and one cable car free ticket

Fantastic location, beautiful spacious rooms,very clean. All of the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. When I had a query about my account, front desk staff contacted the manager promptly. He was very helpful and able to quickly resolve any issues.

I encountered Fernando (the doorman) last year when I had an injury. I wasn't yet a guest but I was passing, and he saw that I needed help and gave me a hand and tips for safety. I promised myself that if I were ever in SF, I would stay at this hotel where this beacon of old world manners took such care of me. I was not disappointed

I am not used to this unpleasant practice of being charged daily a 'destination fee' of 25 USD without consent, which in fact obliges you to have lunch or dinner at the hotel every day if you don't want to loose the value of this daily fee. Note that many other SF hotels do that.
Full service hotel in the safe shopping/restaurant district of Union Square, steps from Chinatown and financial downtown. Courteous and friendly staff taking their time to help or advise you. Excellent full breakfast buffet (extended operation 7am-11am!) with a chief cooking your eggs to your preference. Nicely decorated, restaurant (snacks and burgers) and cocktail bar with views on the Powell-Mason cable car. Spacious and clean room well furnished and elegantly decorated with efficient Wi-Fi and comfortable desk. Exactly what you expect from a Marriott hotel.

payment was debited off Andriette Theron's credit card. She travelled alongside David Crosoer from PPS Investments, South Africa. She was double debited, even though this should have been debited off the company credit card. Credentials were sent to David via email. Please can this be dealt with urgently.

I was surprised because as far as i remembered when i booked in booking.com app our reservation was supposed to have breakfast. I came to learn that our booking was without meals when we got there.
A big spacious room. Comfortable beds and professional staffs. The location was very accessible to all our itineraries.
