Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI was in town for an LCI bike lead training which was just a mile away from 1820's house. I was able to use the bike trail to go to and fro which was great! Also upon my arrival they gave me a room on the first floor since I had my folding bike. This was much appreciated since the hotel doesn't have an elevator. The continental breakfast was great!

United StatesThe room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and cozy. The canopy bed made me feel like royalty! The breakfast bar was just right with home made fruit breads, scones, bagels, fruit , juice and coffee. The staff was kind, courteous and professional. I would definitely stay here again!

United StatesWe were disappointed that the room was cleaned only by request. Also, the breakfast was not as I had expected. While dining in the restaurant at your location, the ambiance was ruined by being sat in a room with a case of water along with single bottles of water in open view. Also in view was a computer and monitor on the same bookshelf as the water bottles.
The room was very nice, along with the view. The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful. Your location was very convenient for sight-seeing.

United KingdomRooms are only serviced on request. One of the joys of staying in a hotel is coming back to a room where the bed has been made and the rubbish taken out. This seems to be an unusual cost cutting measure for a hotel of this calibre. The bed and linens should not be changed everyday but the other services should be automatically provided. Also the breakfast was very ecologically unfriendly with everything wrapped in plastic and all the plates and utensils not reusable. Not an environmentally conscious hotel.
The location was great and the room really nice. Very spacious and nicely decorated. Huge bathroom with a spa bath. The free wine in the evening a really special bonus.

United StatesCheck in staff seemed confused. Didn't give me the breakfast details. Breakfast was cold, just ok continental. Didn't go with the upscale facility. Bed and pillows were hard, woke up with a stiff neck.
Beautiful facility. The room was exquisite, and quite spacious. Big bathroom. Very quiet. Newspaper to read available. Front desk staff in the morning was very helpful.

United StatesThe only problem was that our room, though lovely and clean, had a low, sloped ceiling that was rough for my husband to navigate. Other than that, we LOVE it at Simsbury 1820! * You can't beat sitting in front of the cozy fireplace.
Breakfast is fantastic: there's a variety of traditional and healthy options. Love the fireplace and decor.

United StatesThere could of been more seating available for breakfast but since the restaurant was run separately extra seating was probably not available.
The breakfast was great and it was nice to have a good restaurant on site. The bedding was extremely comfortable and being located in the Carriage House was a bonus.

United StatesBreakfast was a bit “light.”
Sheryl sp?) at the desk was outstanding. She tracked for a room freeing up, found one and called me immediately. By then I had found something. But nothing beats an offer to help and then someone putting themselves to do it! A class act.

United StatesRoom door sticks and must be almost slammed to fully close, likely because of age of property + extreme humidity. We left open once accidentally and from then on, made sure door was actually shut. Too bad for us that the dinner restaurant onsite wasn't open (we stayed on a Mon, Tues)
This charming small hotel boasts period rooms and a truly bountiful continental breakfast. The bed was very comfortable thanks to the superior linen and pillows. The neighbors were very loud past midnight, but thankfully left the following morning. The staff were concerned and apologetic (although we hadn't contacted over night). The breakfast was accommodating for all: cereals, homemade breakfast breads, toasts, even meat/cheese plates for international guests, lasting until 10 am, which we appreciated and ate on the outdoor patio. Although this location doesn't have any outdoor facilities, we took advantage of the privileges at the sister property (tennis and indoor pool). A very nice stay and right in the middle of town.

United StatesI was expecting a smaller B&B, but it really more of small inn. Also, the town is nice, but not as rural as I anticipated. Even so, it was a pleasant place for a long weekend getaway.
Historic 200 year old property that’s well maintained. The staff are exceptionally friendly as are the people of the town. Excellent restaurant downstairs!
